I don’t know what the long-term consequences will be on Hank Green for admitting to this. He’s apparently been very pro-AI lately, from the bits and pieces I’ve seen. But if you’re in scicomm, carefully consider making AI a part of your workflow. We’re in the trust business.

FWIW, Meta was fully aware of how these glasses would primarily be used. The glasses were designed to erase consent, and that is why they exist. Anything that they do that suggests they want to ameliorate this use is an attempt to win the PR battle and manipulate public opinion.

I have seen more and more teacher influencers film in classrooms and promote paid content since the phone ban in schools. It is nonsensical for the adults to be acting without discretion or integrity online. How can we educate young people on sensible online habits when teachers don’t model it
