Whether or not it ever gets eroticized, there is indeed an obsession in the church with men seeking the love/acceptance/approval of other men and they do it in ways that (often intentionally) result in demeaning women.
Saw a video of a woman saying most straight men are “spiritually gay” because they seek the approval of other men and care about their status among other men than they do in their relationship with their wife/spouse/partner-and I can’t unsee it now. This approval extends to men in churches.. +
We're told that we just don't have the money for health care. But apparently we have plenty of money to upgrade Trump's private jet. We don't suffer from a lack of resources. We suffer from a lack of moral imagination.
Trump is, to borrow a term, intersectionally awful: His incompetence, bordering on an uncanny anticompetence, in each particular sphere is compounded & exacerbated by his incompetence in all the others.
Can't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility. A historic strategic mistake harming millions in many different ways.
Well, this article is incredibly depressing for cooking enthusiasts. The short version: private equity has, over the last couple of decades, quietly bought up most of the classic brands you’ve heard of and then traded on their names while drastically cutting quality and closing American factories
Well I have started noting events on my calendar, just little things like “kidnapped President of Venezuela” and “shots fired at WHCD” and “bombed Iran today”
UGH
Trump's big news is China acquired the publicly available voter file? Bro, DOGE employees took off with our Social Security info on thumb drives.
“There is only one problem on which all my existence, my peace, and my happiness depend: to discover myself in discovering God. If I find God, I will find myself and if I find my true self, I will find God.” ~Thomas Merton
the tl;dr of Trump roomba theory is that Trump has a selected set of brainworms that his brain prioritizes until he hits a roadblock, at which point his staffers and his brain go off in another direction
i think roomba theory is basically correct on Trump
Hi. You’ve heard the President lie about elections before. It’s a travesty, but the sun came up, people voted, winners took seats, etc. He’ll probably lie about elections again. And it’s not likely tomorrow’s the last time. Breathe. It is, and always has been, in voters’ hands.
This is Pearl. She's very excited you're home, and can only properly express her enthusiasm through jazz hands. 14/10 #SeniorPupSaturday (IG: ohpearlitsliza)
Yesterday my husband referred to it as power poops.
gotta make sure we connect the diarrhea back to the regime’s cdc layoffs that’s not just explosive diarrhea, it’s the trump trots.
It’s so important to remind people that we can do good smart things that help and don’t hurt.
Two Minnesota solar farms seeded native wildflowers under their panels, and 5 years of counting revealed native bees had multiplied twentyfold, then crossed the fence to pollinate the neighbour's soybeans

Mike Johnson on the midterms: "The election will be over whether we're gonna maintain our freedom in a constitutional republic ... that is the question on the ballot this fall"
In my first story with Kelley French for @notus.com, I spoke to the woman pictured in the Metro photo on July 4. She didn't know she went viral. Her family wants people to know their difficult reality. Please take some time with our story today www.notus.org/metro/viral-...

yeah it's kind of wild how cutting back on social media made me a) feel lonelier and b) take steps to connect with people IRL that over the long run *made me substantially less lonely* (it's an ongoing process of course)
Waffles AND church paraphernalia: a thread very much my street.
I'm working on a chapter about the pharmacology of eucharistic bread in antiquity, with some attention to the role of bread stamps. And because academic research is WILD I'm eagerly learning about how this history leads us directly to Waffle House waffles.
Could someone check in later this afternoon and remind me that I’d planned to get my shit together and turn my life around today?
This video clip of a swan landing on a lake is best enjoyed with AUDIO ON. Mute swans (Cygnus olor) are among the heaviest flying birds & require a long runway, which means we get the majestic approach, a few furious moments of webbed feet slapping on water, then the majestic splashdown.
My mom just called to tell me that she went to a museum about the Underground Railroad, where one of the exhibits talked about the locals having horns that they would blow to warn people when the slave catchers were in town “It’s just like your whistles!”
