It is also in some cases always everywhere used to kill inconvenient people who don't particularly want to die. Pointing to the misery it ends for the people who choose it for themselves does not change this.

I think about this every time I ride. I feel safer "taking the lane" and facing the wrath of entitled drivers stacked up behind me than I do shoehorned into the worst bit of the road hoping paint will save me from cars now moving faster because I didn't take the lane.

As I've said before, most of the billionaire class have lost the awareness of what consent and consensual means. Everything is up for grabs once it's data. These companies violate consent routinely, and the idea of a consensual reality created in common is alien. Hence our epistemic crisis too.

Every media & regulatory organization in the world seems determined to ignore this reality; I genuinely don't understand why. Today's settlement is so that Meta can keep violating consent.
