Close watchers of San Francisco Bay may have noticed that it's been higher than usual. I've kind of noticed this for the past month, but really took notice when the spring tides caused flooding that is odd for this time of year. The bay has been 6" higher than typical.

Sitting on the sofa uploading a week's worth of bike lane obstruction photos to @bikelaneuprising.bsky.social . I've developed the habit of taking a photo EVERY TIME it occurs, which takes away the question of whether I should bother or not.

Transferring from SMART to the Golden Gate Transit 580 and got caught with the bad transfer. Guess I'll bike it out.

Imagine if this happened to a highway? We don't have to imagine: CalTrans spent $110 million (this time around) to fix CA 1 going to a village of 60 people.

AB 1599 would implement a statewide standardized bus stop database, making transit more convenient for riders. This would help solve the current system of fragmented datasets - enabling better route planning, service adjustments, and accessibility improvements. Read our recent blog by @tsch.uy.

Happened to ride by MM today on a recreational ride (bike lanes on California!). Parking lot, about 40 spots, is full. At least 6 bikes parked that I can see, 3 cargo, including this guy. 15% biking mode share. 4 walkers just went in as I write this.

In the spirit of scientific inquiry, I drove to Monterey Market along Hopkins today to do a bit of grocery shopping. A trip report, I suppose. Decades ago when I lived in El Cerrito and was a Berkeley grad student, MM was conveniently between the two. I was car-free and cycled everywhere.

Food for thought: the parcel containing Monterey Market is eligible for SB 79 upzoning.

They are blocking a bike lane to a middle school on grounds that it would remove parking for Monterrey Market. As if the market didn't already have a giant parking lot, a bus stop in front, and shoppers couldn't ride ebikes in the new bike lane.

Just think, if we had chosen the I-5 corridor, we could be celebrating the start of track laying this year between Patterson and Buttonwillow!

This isn't so much crayoning as a grab bag of neighborhoods in SF that don't have good rail transit access and then someone connected the dots: "North Beach!", "Noe Valley!", "the outer Richmond!" I wouldn't say it's political genius, but I'm guessing the vagueness decreases knee-jerk NIMBYism.
