My co-chair told me Russia keeps eating her diplomats so I asked how many diplomats she has and she said she just goes to the state department and gets a new diplomat afterwards so I said it sounds like she’s just feeding diplomats to Russians and then her international committee started crying.

A semi realistic proper post US order that isn't total shit would be one where the EU and Turkey-Saudi-Egypt develop a semi conservative concert of peace for MENA (which would at minimum require crippling Israel and requiring it to relinquish all 1967 territories) and liberalizing migrant laws.
If the DSA be local let them get vocal If the DSA be national Ooh, buddy. Irrational
Ah, I see that people are discovering the DSA paradox: Local chapters can be very competent challengers to the Democratic Party but the national org has been largely captured by kooks, encouraging the independence of local chapters.
DSA is injecting some much needed youthful energy into the Democratic Party, and we are long due for a reckoning on Palestine, and many DSA elected officials like Mamdani are great. But this idea that every conflict can be solved by the US being less involved is profoundly stupid and ahistorical.
Remnick: So we shouldn't send weapons to Ukraine? DSA co-chair Megan Romer: No! Remnick: So, just allow Russia to overrun Ukraine entirely? Romer: We should be sending huge teams of diplomats. We should figure out how to negotiate.w
I know everyone's already dunking on this, but fact of the matter is that there are things worth defending that can only be dealt with via military force. And I wish that weren't so, but defending these things is just, and necessary.

Baltimore cut homicides 68% with 400 fewer cops, which is a deeply inconvenient plot twist for the “more police is the only way to safety” narrative.

I don’t know what this man’s personal politics are in the US context, but in the global context, Ukraine’s defense is part of international liberalism, which means that this man is willing to suffer, fight, kill, and potentially die for liberal ideals.

Are we gonna do “Woke 1 was crazy” discourse? I think it’s relevant that she used it as a pivot to say, we were looking for any and all solutions and the ultimate development was positive. She’s literally talking about the dialectic, and the mutual relations between historically progressive actors.
Says a lot about the incentive structure of US politics on the left of center that every single progressive is scrutinized for every little thing while the most rabidly right wing Democratic member of Congress can go talk to Trump's stenographer and call his fellow party members bigots.

It is so refreshing to hear AOC say things I have been saying but have never heard from other politicians
AOC on Hasan Piker: "Much hay was made about the fact that we lost young men in the last election. Many of the same consultants that are wringing their hands today were the same ones talking about how we have to go on Joe Rogan and not be so willing to engage in cancel culture."
Rowling has threatened multiple people with SLAPP suits in mostly successful attempts to shut down their speech, but @indexoncensorship.org, supposed opponents of censorship everywhere, who have been very vocal on SLAPP suits over the past few years, have said absolutely nothing about it whatsoever.
It would be nice if a major human rights organization had a report identifying this animus as hateful, and stood up to SLAPP lawsuits like these. @amnestyuk.bsky.social do you know any?
Drones are just a new kind of light artillery
Apropos of nothing immediately in particular, it seems to be increasingly well appreciated that the American military system faces challenges in terms of drone-heavy warfare. What I see as equally true but less appreciated would be the challenges running in reverse in a land-war context.
Tailor-made for a discrimination lawsuit. I hope they get a lot more than $400,000 out of this.
Tales of everyday corruption. Pete Hegseth cancelled the $400,000 contract for making uniforms for the Blue Angels on the grounds that the contract with "The Sewing Box" was DEI since the firm is Black-owned. Instead, he awarded it to a Trump donor for $1,690,000, a 325% price increase!

Just so predictable. Labour got themselves into this because those who aren't True Believers thought they could appease those who are then the issue would go away. Not so. The GCs are obsessives attempting a top down reorientation of our culture to spite a minority they despise. They must be fought.
Easy way to save money in the budget is just to assign cops less overtime for events that don’t need policing. Like I get you might need a few on standby in case of emergency and until we do woke public safety that means cops, but they do not need to keep squeezing us dry.
There's like a hundred cops just hanging out at Classon and Atlantic, the bullshit overtime these fucking guys milk from us is ridiculous.
Why are people in our community doing a woke 1 internal cancellation of Ken Jennings

the other reason it is important to do this is that the actual work of rebuilding is going to be hard and expensive and our budget has had several giant holes blown in it you are not going to be able to deliver Medicare for All to the people on January 21, 2029 but you can go after the oligarchs

imagine a future where *we* appropriate the vicious symbolism of ICE in a merciless crack-down billionaires and the MAGA class: fancy production value videos of bashing down their fancy doors, slapping bags over their spray-tanned heads, black helicopters, shattered ugly gold homewares, etc etc
If Hasan Piker is so toxic for the Democratic brand why are Democratic pundits always bringing him up?
I don't have advice for AES. I think it was a mistake to nominate him, and I hope I'm wrong. But the general view I have for Dems is - prioritize races you're more likely to win - don't let the fallout from AES hurt other candidates And by fallout, I mean: www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
“Goods are too expensive so I’m voting for tariffs. I think my kid poops in a litter box at school and this angers me.”
Sex scenes in movies are problematic because future people don’t consent to being conceived
but the characters arent consenting is the problem, and its impossible for them to consent because the writer uses their Power and Control and dictate their 'consent'.
holy shit we have raised over $50K last week!! as promised, I have refreshed the list with the next group of 9 candidates, with a focus on including the Michigan swing district candidates who just won their primaries last week! 🧵thread on all the new candidates below:
Donate to the candidates on the front lines of the fight against MAGA gerrymandering
These are anti-MAGA state candidates in *extremely* close races

I love Talarico and hope he wins. But he’s already raised $70M On the flipside, control of critical state legislatures will come down to seats where candidates raise 0.1% of that. I’ve researched the highest leverage swing district candidates you should donate to secure.actblue.com/donate/donat...
@ndhapple.bsky.social why is the Express-News better than the Chronicle?
Reminder for all watching the Labour party go "well, we have to enforce segregation of trans people, the law's the law" The UK is not the USA. Parliament is sovereign and Labour have a thumping big majority; they could, trivially, amend the equality act to end this. They are choosing not to.
I think it’s cool how I was scrupulously careful to never cross “the line” when I worked campaigns and he can just do this
Q: MAGA Inc., the Super PAC that your allies control-- Trump: Not my allies, I control. $800M. I could spend it on anything I want. I have a busy schedule. I won. I'm not campaigning. A lot of people are angry at Republicans. They are not angry at me.
