Our AI-powered timetabling system has become self-aware and resigned from its position with immediate effect.
Tucked away in this article about GB PAC is the N. Ireland connection of Jim Allister MP, a UVF bank robber and a sectarian killer. If you think dark money funding is an abstract debate - tell that to people here following the third pogrom in as many summers.
🔴 NEW: This US-style right-wing political pressure group keeps its funders a secret. Its members have helped man Scotland’s anti-migrant and asylum demonstrations. Find out more: https://www.theferret.scot/p/a133bcc2-0540-4673-bf9f-96b6fd48ac63/
Dublin City Council, again, has banned poster to spare a US president's feelings. Even a version which made no direct reference to Trump and removed his image, and simply read: “No welcome for warmongers” was turned down.

Too many cutesy Trump 1.0 signs at this protest for my liking. This one captures the energy and mood of the moment.

Breaking: Donald Trump says “I’d love to see Ireland unified…. I think it would be a great thing. How could it be bad?” Oh my word.
The spirit of our dear departed Janey Godley is in Doonbeg, Co Clare, Ireland today.
Red carpet count for Trump so far: 3. The bootlicking approach of the Irish government is disgusting. Show him what Irish people really think. Assemble 1pm at Garden of Remembrance.
The Countess fought for a ticket to Trump’s welcoming party, I guess
Among the illustrious guests are Eddie Hobbs, Gerard Craughwell, Michael Flatley, Niamh Uí Bhriain of Gript, Laoise de Brún and a few beauty queens. I'd say Conor McGregor is disappointed not to have been invited.
Laoise de Brún of course has been very noisy about the alleged risks that immigrant men pose to women Yet there she is extending open arms to a foreign man who has been found liable in a court of law for sexual abuse of a woman 🤷♀️
'Affordable housing is not out of reach because people aren’t setting their alarms. Energy prices aren’t out of control because there’s a preponderance of people at home playing their PlayStations instead of working. In short: the government has no excuse.'
'To make the government look like the good guy, Harris has to make it seem like there’s some malevolent cohort of lazy, gadabout ne’er-do-wells out there, and the budget will finally rescue us from them. The only problem is that no such cohort exists in any meaningful way." Surrealing:
So close and yet The far right's real weapon is the mainstream elite hyping it to distract from the crisis of democracy. It's not rising because it's popular or because immigration is a "legitimate concern", it's rising because it is being built as the only alternative by those currently in power
Because he is not welcome.
Garda divers, water cannon, anti-drone technology and signal jammers are among the resources being deployed this weekend for US President Donald Trump’s visit. Gardaí describe it as “one of the biggest security operations ever undertaken”. #VMNews
Some important reflections from Sara Ahmed on complicity (and thus being facist foot soldiers) in the death of Professor Jason Arday.
"A person should not be excluded from citizenship because they became ill, lost a job, needed housing support or faced another period of hardship."
No rationale, research or evidence has been presented by the Justice Minister for his proposed changes restricting citizenship access. These plans that are simply aimed at making Ireland a hostile place for migrants who contribute so much to our economy and society. www.iccl.ie/news/citizen...
Did you know that we deny Deaf people in Ireland the opportunity to learn Irish in school? Because it’s deemed that they wouldn’t be able. Without any assessment. Without any comprehension that many Deaf people are learning ISL and English at the same time? And are therefore bilingual?
I'm here over TWO decades and still don't have citizenship. Many like me. It's not easy, cheap or practical, especially with reckonable residency requirements. Much of the draconian elements are already in there (eg self sufficient, "good character" and citizenship at discretion of the Minister).
Planned changes to Irish citizenship requirements will ensure that new citizens have an “understanding” of the country and its values, the Taoiseach has said. jrnl.ie/7154915
Danny Tommo, the man behind the Dover port blockade, said he “came away inspired” after his time in Belfast during the racist riots.

The president of Universities UK has defended his decision to speak on a panel at Reform UK’s annual conference after the move was branded “dangerous” by the sector’s biggest union. Chris Havergal reports #ReformUK #UUK #UCU #edusky https://ow.ly/2vTo50ZKuXe

Absolutely fuck this. This is a dog whistle masquerading as policy. New citizens not having an "understanding" of Ireland is not and has not ever been a problem. Fuck this from a height

What gets me about this is they’re putting time and money into implementing barriers while also robo-rejecting applications like mine with no appeals and no way to ask for extensions on requests for further documents with ridiculous deadlines.

Atm those 5 years are under specific permits e.g. time on student visas, retirement visas don't count. Then there's the application processing, mine took 2.5 years. But people think someone arrives, waits 5 years, and is handed a passport! P.s. seeing these comments means a lot ❤️ you give me hope!
