What they’re hoping for and acting for is germinating the seeds of extreme acts of violence against South Asians. That’s why they use the explicitly Nazi framing of the ‘Indian question’. They want the same results. Their followers are pretty open it on social media, too.

New: Chris Rufo & his co-host devoted a podcast to "The Indian Question," framing Desi people as a problem to be solved. Their "solution?" Mass expulsion. For those allowed to remain: an “assimilation hazing process” w/ instances of “vulgar, defamatory racism" talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-r...

Gears games had pride flags in 2019, but the people who monetize rage bait don't want their audience to know that -- maybe they don't even know that themselves, because they don't do research; they just react. If more people recognized they're getting played for revenue, we'd be in a better spot.

I feel like it's so common in the US to see political actors actively cede the power they've acquired to be in thrall to some oligarch or other that it's almost confusing to see someone preserve their political power in their best interest.

Leo seems like a real one, as you describe, but at a fundamental level it is also shocking to me to see a political actor operate in the best interest of their own State. "Oh yeah guys this Clear Rival and False Idol you made is pretty rad" that's what these losers expected him to say?

Fascism's appeal has always been the promise to end social conflict by "returning" (always a lie) to an ethnically/religiously/ ideologically homogeneous "people's community" in which old hierarchies are retained but somehow racial/religious solidarity provides all the equality anyone needs.

as ever i'm struck by the doublethink of these people, who feel the need to dress up their mindless longing for heirarchy and exclusion in the language of liberalism--"high trust," material prosperity, blah blah blah it's a form of magical thinking: "if we do enough racism, good things will happen"

Shit like this has fueled my conspiracy theory that mass data theft/harvesting for the purposes of tracking people to create more effective advertising is one of the biggest, longest running grifts in the history of the internet. Where is it? Its been decades since they started doing it!

It is. The data economy of silicon valley went to major corporations and produced a series of reports saying that advertisements have a HARD CAP of how many buyers brought in per dollar spent, and since then its been a game of trying to min max results based on a pivot to video style scam

seriously, the number of publishers who've said "i'm sorry, you want to pay people a living wage? no, that's far too much. we'll take half all profit to post about you" is like, that's not a publisher, that's a parasite. you can hire a PR firm for a fraction of that and they'll do better

Publishers: we do not fund games at this time, but in exchange for 50% of revenue we can provide valuable services. The services:

It's not just that the US has elected a Fascist, but that he has been busy busting up the economic, cultural & military alliance system that is known as "The West". And the East? It was broken by US pressure & internal economic failure in the 1980s. 1/2

"The West" has fallen. Trump destroyed it from the inside - not only with his unilateral actions, but his open hostility to Europe. Recognising this doesn't make one a dupe for Putin. It means recognising that the struggle against Russian absolutism will have to be conducted without Washington.

Even as that party wont ever fuck things up for the very important rich people and lords and landed gentry... they will only fuck things even harder for the "plebby cunts" - including the ones that voted for everything to be fucked up. There is no winning, the press see to that.

One small, but powerful way that LLM's are supercharging scamming is by allowing scammers to write perfect context-appropriate prose - emails, invitations, "hey checking in" - that before AI would have this slightly *off* uncanniness that would alert the victim. No longer!

We need to stop reaffirming that we don't expect Trump administration figures to face legal accountability for their misdeeds. Expectations produce reality. We need to start creating the expectation that they in fact will—indeed, must—face legal accountability.

Pretty clear to me there’s a very good case against this man for mass murder, and I’m saying that in as measured a fashion as I can. He’s order the killing of 234 people under no plausible war or legal justification. I am skeptical he will ever face legal accountability for til his but he should.
