"Boycotts never achieve anything" factoid is actually a statistical error. Boycotts are an enormously successful pressure mechanism for collective action. Boycotts georg who launches a million boycotts every day with no thought given to target selection is an outlier adn should not have been counted

I have a (baseless, probably bullshit) working theory that Liberals agree with the rigid ontologies/hierarchies of people embraced by conservatives but have enough of a moral framework to recognize that enforcing those hierarchies at gunpoint is immoral so they turn to capitalism to do it for them.

want to be clear there are absolutely big differences b/t Dems & GOP, don’t ascribe to all-the-same, and that said, it’s awfully telling how many high profile Dems now profess to prefer a Republican in office than a progressive and how that appears to be driven by who is closer to their values

all the genderbend isekai protags are former loser high schoolers with no social connections. I wanna see the de-aged protag drop the brat demeanor for a sec to confuse everyone openly pining for the wife and children she'll never see again.

it seems far more likely and logical to me that, at the bare minimum, influential figures within the International Secretariat simply agree with JK Rowling and her cause

AI UK made the initial report but the retractions and disavowal came from the International Secretariat, which framed AI UK's report as being a rogue action they did not approve. perhaps this was purely cowardly, pragmatic survival instinct but they've stood up to far more powerful opponents before

i don't believe cowardice is the only reason for amnesty international's decision and that framing is doing JK Rowling's PR for her as this unstoppable legal machine which - when cases are actually challenged in court - is not always true. i think AI leadership is sympathetic to GC orgs and causes

Nothing to add about the Ken Jennings Paying For Wordle situation, but I love that he phrased “got permission from the trans community to play wordle” like he’s a rapper checking in with a rival gang before visiting their city.

as someone who doesn’t like modern remakes and wishes we cared more about the art of old games in their proper context i do not want to cede this position to chuds. being a snob about art is in fact leftist and woke fuck you

i have complained about halo just enough for the algorithm to pick up on it the last couple days and from what i can tell 100% of still existing halo fans are breaking bds to get mad about a woman ODST so maybe all they got exactly what they deserve

I have a major piece up today at The Key. It's about Israel, parsing the rape baked into Zionism's core grammar. I speak of trained dogs; Screams Without Words; Sde Teiman; the Tomer-Yerushalmi affair; and the Palestinian Feminist Collective on sexual violence's centrality to reproductive genocide.

Glad you liked Maze Mice enough to play it for 141 hours and leave a negative review! I'll get right on adding *checks notes* a hundred more mazes to the game so you'll leave a positive review.

A negative Steam review for Maze Mice with 141 hours played. It reads:

I love this as a base to a game. It's very satisfying with it's gameplay loops, and a PERFECT way to get a quick steamdeck sess in before before bed. However I'm going to hit dislike becuase the devs clearly did not know what they had here and in my opinion left the game unfinished despite being decently polished. I'll upvote if ANY new content comes up ever.

I would pay twice the cost of the base game for DLC if it did the following:

Balanced items, make the more niche ones far better for what they are tuned for (or rework)
Add more synergy to items
add a way to gain points to block items from coming up (maybe at the cost of wasting a level)
add some more enemy types or even just behaviors for diff colored cats/ghosts
add counters for how many times each mouse won a game
add some kind of bonus to the mice for the item they start with, and even a negative in theme
make a late-game char that also starts with nothing like the first but has a heavy handicap with a fun bonus

I could easily go on, but this is a start to actually making this a GAME. A hundred more levels, a few levels with a tunnel from top to bottom instead of just left to right, maps with no tunnels, maps with a lot of full tunnels. Traps within the maps that come up fairly against the player, so much could be added. Surely one person with the knowledge of making this game could pump out some content and make you more money.

one of the great tragedies of film for me is that the emmerich style disaster movie of a big budget ensemble cast converging on a climax across multiple lines of mystery and infrastructure is one of the greatest pleasures of cinema but unfortunately roland emmerich is the worst director of all time

this format always makes me smile because it was made by a one piece fan completely earnestly but every time i see it i think its a joke from a berserk fan about how its the only good manga
