On a larger scale but same concept it baffles me when people ask me “but what about the motorcycle’s resale value?” Or “but what about when you sell your apartment?” I exist to experience joy in this world, not to store items for future people to enjoy. Love your toys! Read your comics! Have fun!

It is a sign of a healthy mind and well adjusted life when you can be watching a BBC period drama and immediately recognize a stately manor from ANOTHER (or more) BBC period drama. Apparently, I am running out of England to see.

I worked at Disney a while ago. Do you know why theme parks are so safe? Because OOSHA reps can walk the track on any ride at any time and any safety violation they see is a $10,000 fine. Each. Theme parks are not safe because the company cares. They're safe because it's cheaper to comply.

Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.

The actual harsh truth about MAHA is that it is an anti-vaxx, anti-science, pro-diarrhea conspiracy movement. It cloaks its arguments in abstractions about "big pharma" and "free speech" to generate *the exact op-ed The Atlantic keeps publishing*. Movements like this need to be fought, not placated.

I hope every day you all are trying to cultivate joy. A kindness to a neighbor. A long walk. Poetry. Birdwatching. Meditation. Being silly and playing peekaboo in a checkout line with a cute baby. These are dark times, and joy is something the bastards cannot take from us. Fight for it.

Look at every hacking incident where they say the FEDRAMP environment was not affected. That means their regular environment had some pretty basic cybersecurity hygiene failures, because the real thing FEDRAMP brings isn’t better controls per se; it’s making it harder to lie / obfuscate.

I don’t know how to convince anyone of this, but the hundreds or thousands of words many publications run below the headline aren’t decorative. Often they contain nuance that doesn’t fit into ten words.
