This video of a woman telling an anti-abortion asshole to, "Shut the fuck up" is exactly what I needed to see on a Monday morning

Reading SF, fantasy, mysteries. Playing TTRPGs and other games. Learning (I hope) how to be a better human.
RIP Bonnie Tyler. And RIP Tandi Iman Dupree. This remains the best stage entrance by a drag queen of all time, even some 25 years later, and the best use of Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” ever. youtu.be/IHQA5vqn6rw?...
🎶 #MorningVibe One Voice Children’s Choir delivers a powerful cover of Imagine Dragons’ "Believer," featuring choreography by Center Stage Studios. It’s a beautiful tribute to strength & resilience. Believe ~ #ArtAsActivism #TeachYourChildrenWell
"The study found that resettled refugees contribute $6 billion more to the U.S. economy than they take out. Per year. The Trump administration did exactly what you’d expect: They suppressed the study, and then they lied about it."

TOMORROW: Americans are calling out of work, walking out of school, and refusing to shop on the nationwide day of economic disruption. There are many ways you can get involved on May Day: survey.alchemer.com/s3/8705046/i... Join one of the over 3,000 events planned: www.mobilize.us/mayday/map/?...
We need more reporting on the internal mechanisms within the great Silicon Valley vibe shift, e.g. on Andreessen's group chats, like this: "They float in a sensory-deprivation tank the size of the planet, in which their actions are only ever judged by themselves." www.theatlantic.com/magazine/202...

"Rick Callender, CEO of Valley Water...resigned last month after an independent investigation confirmed sexual harassment...The board voted to retain him as a “special adviser” and continue to pay his $716,000 compensation package..."
The SF Standard took the Swalwell story as an opportunity to do follow up on all those supposedly "life-destroying" allegations of sexual misconduct and you'll never guess what they found... sfstandard.com/2026/04/20/7...
Market concentration → Less competition → Higher prices for consumers → Corporate profits at record highs → Record stock buybacks → Higher shareholder value → More power for corporations and the rich. How do we fight back? Break up monopolies and rebuild union power.
I’m showing up for No Kings Day on March 28th because in this country, the people lead, not a single ruler. Democracy only works if we show up to claim it. Our voices carry the power; let’s use them to shape our future together.
Congrats to all the assholes who shit on Starfleet Academy, which had the best first season of a Star Trek show in franchise history, white supremacist homophobic Paramount has cancelled the show and you won and now there is no Trek in production Do you feel like winners? You assholes
Since 1994, immigrants have paid more in taxes than they receive in benefits every year. Do not believe the lies you hear about immigrants. They are good for society and the economy.
"You, the moderate man, may be used for wrong, but are useless for right." Goddamn, Melville could really cook.
Herman Melville on moderates, all the way back in 1857:
Trump First term: Golf $151.5 million in taxpayer money, 261 rounds one every 5.6 days. Second term so far: estimated $138.6 million and climbing fast. That's $290 million combined across both terms so far and the second term isn't half over.
Folks, 📅 2026 primaries are coming up fast. Check your state’s date. Make sure you’re registered. Make a plan to vote. Too much is riding on people sitting this one out. Stay ready so nobody decides the future for you. iwillvote.com
This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.
ANOTHER ONE (same judge, 95 minutes later)
1. The American people were under no imminent threat from Iran. Its government does not have nuclear weapons. It was no more threatening to Israel or any other US ally than it normally is.
Here is my opening statement to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee today.
I knew I saw this somewhere before. Funny that it’s almost exactly what’s actually happening now.
Not sure who needs to hear this but the voter fraud rate is a mere 0.000003%. Anyone telling you otherwise is making shit up so they can take away your right to vote.
I read the Trump-backed voter suppression bill, the so-called “Save America Act,” so you don’t have to. Here’s my summary. Please tell your Senators to vote NO on this abomination: 202-224-3121. TY. 1/
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue
I heard an OpSec horror story today. A group of (white) women who are organizing to feed brown neighbors who are afraid to leave the house due to ICE are *filming* their food compilation efforts, *from inside a member’s home*, and *streaming it on Facebook.*
Aliya Rahman was on her way to a doctor's appointment when she was violently detained by ICE. She’s a U.S. citizen with a disability. Listen to her powerful testimony.
If you're response to people calling these "concentation camps" is that they are no different than prisons, that's exactly what makes them concentration camps. Prisons are for people who have received the procedural protections of criminal law and been sentenced, not civil detainees.
BIG news from @bloomberg.com, which confirms that ICE has gone ahead and *purchased* multiple commercial warehouses with the aim of converting them into mass detention camps. This is likely to be the big detention story of 2026 — literal warehousing of people. www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
