We Distribute

@wedistribute.org

We Distribute is a news site reporting on the future of the Internet. We cover the Fediverse, Bluesky, Nostr, and more. We keep a pulse on the development of these spaces, and the people living in it.

Hey, an informal announcement, but my budget is tight and I’m a full-time student. I figured that I’d post here that I’m looking to do freelance work, particularly when it comes to writing. What I specialize in: open source, exploring technology, how-to guides, interviews.

Newsmast has been absolutely killing it lately. Turns out, one of the best approaches for Fediverse advocacy involves building communities and giving them tools to make the experience seamless and easy.

The @newsmastfoundation.org Apps for Change pilots are all live, across four flavours of app. Over the next two months, everything we’ve co-designed with our pilot communities will be embedded into our Build-an-App programme, for easy onboarding. Here's an update: www.blog-pat.ch/apps-for-cha...

I don't think @toni.bsky.team will be bad for bluesky, but if you don't want to use a platform run by a VC funded by VC's you can continue to talk to everybody here by switching over to @blackskyweb.xyz's servers. Compatible and entirely seperate from bluesky infrastructure.

Jazzed for the conference and the ATProto x science side event we're co-organizing with @tgoerke.bsky.social 🚀 Save the date! 📆 Also - ideas for cool speakers or projects in the ATProto science space are most welcome! Feel free to share here/DM/email

Announcing ATmosphereConf 2026, coming to Vancouver March 26th to 29th. We've got the full announcement and future news and updates on our new site news.atmosphereconf.org/3m3cwwz4mpk2j

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

We've been working to build up a list to keep track of people and projects within the ATproto ecosystem. If there's anyone we've missed, let us know!

very excited to share this update about bringing AT to the IETF! last week we uploaded two drafts to the IETF datatracker and today we heard that we’re approved to host a Birds of a Feather at IETF 124 (the formal meeting towards establishing a working group)

Taking AT to the IETF | Bluesky

Last week we posted two drafts to the IETF Data Tracker. This is the first major step towards standardizing parts of AT in an effort to establish long-term governance for the protocol.

Boilerplate Pitch to Publications

We know that Bluesky has better click-through rates than any other social media platform, and that publishing independence from platforms is more important now than ever. To that effect, advocating fo...

The problem with banning someone who hasn't broken any policies is that the evilest people in the world may own this platform in the future and they can use that in the other direction and point to the OG builders actions and I swear we've seen this before am I in a timeloop
