Here's the compilation of all the different stages of the #LunarEclipse for which I got useful photos (you may need to expand the image to see all three rows and columns). Two different cameras with two very different zoom capabilities, but I think you get the general idea!

Happy Saturday! For the next 24h, drop any infectious disease and/or vaccine related questions in response to this post, and I will do my best to answer them. Answers are for information only, NOT medical advice. #AskAnIDDoc August 2026 edition.

The vandalism and desecration of the White House isn't just vanity and it's not trivial. It's caesarism, as in literally what Julius Caesar did to the symbolic architecture of civic republicanism. Our national iconography matters and allowing the disfiguring of it to persist is a substantive harm.

AP has called Tuesday's special election in a Pennsylvania state House district for Democrat Brandon Dukes. This is a FLIP for Dems. Their 6th so far in 2026 (and in the reddest district so far, this one was +18% Trump), and their 31st since January 2025. The GOP has flipped 0 seat in that period.

If you have invertebrate themed art you'd like to share, I can vouch for how easy it is to submit for this always beautiful production. The project loves to have a wide variety of media and styles, including fantastical invertebrate things, so don't self reject!

Trump is already planning for the 20*30* Census. This time, not only does he want to stop counting noncitizens, he wants to stop counting race and ethnicity. Can't have an unconstituional racial gerrymander if you pretend not to know where Black people live. My latest in @thenation.com

@karmala48.bsky.social I'm curious about your comment today in Norm's Wordle thread, about a not-real word that you couldn't correct. The game guidelines say that each entry must be a "valid" word—though NYT is coy about what dictionary it uses. 1/3

IMO this is something that schools + parents really need to be aware of. I have a hard time believing that most kids with $300-$400 smart glasses are buying them themselves -- if your kid is using expensive tech to facilitate their harassment of peers for clicks, you should probably know about that
