They're probably hoping you won't hear about this. But tomorrow in TX, Tarrant County officials meet to vote on a GOP plan to cut almost HALF of Election Day voting locations, plus 8 early voting locations, some of them on campuses. Not hard to guess why. fortworthreport.org/2026/07/30/t...

Tarrant County considers cutting 140 Election Day polling sites for November

County commissioners vote Aug. 4 on proposed reductions to the number of early voting and day-of sites for the midterms.

Hey y'all know that "Kassandra" account that shows up whenever you mention anyone Jewish or AIPAC in Michigan. Well I played coy with 'Him' on Twitter for a few weeks. Yes, Kassandra is actually Kurt, meaning it's a man pretending to be a woman who hates Jews. Oh it gets better

Literally have all of these. When it’s your normal, you try not to think about how overwhelming it all is, but when you see it as a list…it’s wild to think so many of us combat all of this daily and have for years…

I thought I would repost this to highlight again some of the many varied symptoms that can be found in #MyalgicEncephalomyelitis / #ChronicFatigueSyndrome Particularly relevant when similarities with the #LongCovid presentation in some people are being missed #MEcfs #CFS #PwLC 1/

APPENDIX 2. ME/CFS Symptom Prevalence and Severity (These prevalence and severity figures are from A definition-based analysis of symptoms in a large cohort of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome, P. De Becker, N. McGregor, and K. De Meirleir. Journal of Internal Medicine 2001;250:234-240.) A total of 2,073 consecutive patients with major complaints of prolonged fatigue were assessed. Among them 1,578 met the Fukuda criteria and of those, 951 met the Holmes criteria. The figures indicate the differences in prevalence and severity of symptoms between these patient groups.

Michigan…you can do it. If you truly want to be progressive, then you need to vote with marginalized people and marginalized folks are the Dem base for a reason. We don’t need anymore unqualified “leftists” who keep voting with republicans like Fetterman, Gallego, Gabbard, Sinema and “the squad.”

There’s no contradiction between this kind of pornographic misogyny and puritanical misogyny of the old Christian right. Both use sexuality to enact men’s domination over women. That one sect forces sex and the other prohibits it is largely a matter of taste.

We could have had the smart Black Lady with the funny laugh. Once again BW are going to get hit the hardest by this. Black folks only make up around 14% of the population but they provide 22% of social workers. They also carry higher debt & make less. Look at the other careers on the list

President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v

When you have a predator in your highest office, this is the shit that happens. Prepubescent kids. Literally just kindergarteners, many of whom play sports just for day care as their parents work & can’t afford child care. This has NOTHING to do with trans folks & EVERYTHING to do with abusing kids.

Michael J. Stern@michaeljstern.bsky.social · 2d ago

Requiring kindergarten children who play sports in school to get pelvic exams and genetic testing is hate, inspired against the trans community. This is not even college or professional sports where money and pro-status will be determined. This is just bigotry. www.rawstory.com/anti-trans-s...

Kindergarten girls targeted for invasive exams by new GOP-led ballot measure

Washington State voters will decide the fate of a ballot initiative that would require girls from kindergarten through high school to undergo sex-verification testing before playing school sports — a ...

Y’all, I cannot tell you how fucked our medical system is. If you don’t need much medicine now, it’s only a matter of time. And what GOPs have done to our system is untenable. WE MUST VOTE DEM. I’m begging you to tell your M4A-only pals to get their shit together and stop sabotaging Dem progress.

I get visceral flashbacks every time someone says this kind of shit. Bodies being stacked like cordwood in freezer vans to make room for more people in the NYC hospitals. Waiting to hear if friends had died alone because we weren't allowed to be at their side. Nurse neighbors coming home to sob.

Gabriel Bosslet@gbosslet.bsky.social · 3d ago

RFK Jr said these words today on national television "There were ICUs that were empty all over the country including in New York at the height (of the pandemic)" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha You are a fucking idiot hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha <sobs silently>

And this will effectively end girls sports in Washington because no parent in their right mind would expose their kid to this. As we’ve always said, this has never just been about transphobia…this has been about control and ending women’s sports (in a time where women are winning more than men).

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.

What happens when you classify actual scientists as “woke” (as if educated is a bad thing) and appoint a bunch of developers to your environmental regulatory bodies… WE HAVE A CHANCE TO CHANGE THIS IN NOVEMBER, FLORIDA!

Craig Pittman @craigtimes.bsky.social · 2d ago

A majority of #Florida waterways are classified as polluted, but environmental enforcement is lacking. Nice work, Gov. Ron DeSastrous & the DEP! www.cfpublic.org/environment/...

Also a devastating result of climate change - the spread of insect-borne diseases. For example, climate change has changed bird migrations and birds are a common carrier of ticks (so keep feeders away from play/food areas).

It’s summertime, and ticks are out in full force. While in certain parts of the country, ticks have long been an issue, they’re now spreading to new regions and bringing new threats. https://to.pbs.org/4flosbT

I will never forget waking up at 3am every morning as they turned the floodlights on outside to place more bodies into the mobile morgue outside my window. Everyone’s beloved dead, stacked nightly like so much excess, while the waking city was a claustrophobic nightmare. Never.

Bill Grueskin@bgrueskin.bsky.social · 7d ago

Running out of body bags, using forklifts to transfer corpses into makeshift morgues, a mortician conducting 200 funerals in a month when he usually does 30, crematories running at double capacity… And these senators just want to memory-hole it all www.nytimes.com/2020/04/30/n...

People still call #LongCovid. a new illness that no one knows much about. Well lucky them choosing not to know about post-viral illness while millions of us have suffered and continue to suffer from #ME for decades. 80% of ME is post-viral maybe more, yet denial has been the norm for decades.

And it was a mass disabling event. Millions disabled (myself included). Even kids. And they still wonder why we wanted to keep kids out of school. And doctors still don’t know how to treat us because republicans keep pretending it’s a hoax instead of something worth research funding.

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

In the United States, there have been 103,436,829[3] confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,238,563[3] confirmed deaths, the most of any country, and the 17th highest per capita worldwide.[43] The COVID-19 pandemic ranks as the deadliest disaster in the country's history.[44] It was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, behind heart disease and cancer.[45] From 2019 to 2020, U.S. life expectancy dropped by three years for Hispanic and Latino Americans, 2.9 years for African Americans, and 1.2 years for White Americans.[46] In 2021, U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 rose,[47] and life expectancy fell.[48]
