Writer. Energy Policy. Former EBook nerd. Former Brooklynonian. Sort of an all around, everyday kind of entity trying to acclimate to the burbs, be a dad and a hubbo, and find a little pie now and then. 40+ Pie, Books, Comics, MTG, Science, Pie. He/Him

Noise. Pollution. The Ozone Layer. Acid Rain. AIDS treatment. Cancer cures. Crime rates. Child abductions. As much as we consume doom and gloom in our media, humans are very, very good at solving problems when we want to. We just have to want to.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

Hi, folks. Just a quick reminder that @scryfall.com has automated processes that handle whether cards that were just added are reprints or not. Those run overnight. We JUST added the Miku cards. Just now. Literally. The reprint job won't run for another ~12 hours or something. Please be patient!

my wife's boss has a son who takes latin and plays magic at summer camp. i gifted him the promo raging kavu and he wrote me this note, ft a handprinted and meticulously trimmed pair of magic cards. the kids are alright.

Katie & Sam:
Thank you for Kavu Furens! I have never seen another latin MTG card before, and it is easily one of the most unique cards I have. It now sits in my display case next to Thieving Magpie (the most overpowered MTG card of all time lol).Kavu Furens and Thieving Magpie printed and attached to the inside of the note.

HI, I'm getting top surgery but it's very expensive. I don't like asking for donations for something cosmetic, especially when others have real needs. If you're interested in helping, all I ask is try out my deckbuilding website Commander Template, and if you like it consider subscribing for $5.

I wrote about a frustrating, brilliant novel that deals with how devoid of connections and curiosity the world has become, and then, fittingly, I wrote (again) about how AI is ruining the book publishing industry. www.themarisreview.com/the-maris-re...
