I have nothing against GTA but I found these two statements from Rockstar about IV amusing, showing up in close proximity in a Kotaku article: Statement 1: "Rockstar Games is trying to emphasize realism over the at-times arcade-y design ideal present in aspects of prior games."

Remembering the great Ruth Gordon, writer and award-winning actress born OTD in 1896. She won an Oscar for ROSEMARY'S BABY, appeared in such classics as HAROLD AND MAUDE, INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, WHERE'S POPPA! and more. Amy Madigan certainly seemed to channel her in WEAPONS. She died in 1985.
If you want a sign for how much #CNBC twists reality to fit their worldview, I give you this example: they just aired an 'investigative report' about prediction markets and elections (they convienently don't mention they have a business relationship with Kalshi) and reference the LA Mayor primary
Sir Ian McKellen has made a statement on the tragic passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. “He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.”
Holy shit, this Cheesecake Factory looks just like the White House!
Remembering jazz saxophonist and composer Gil Mellé, who was 72 when he died OTD in 2004. He was an electronic music pioneer, heard in his scores for THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN, A COLD NIGHT'S DEATH and NIGHT GALLERY'S initial title theme. Also wrote the main title theme for KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER.
Out tomorrow morning! Jon and I walk through the whole AI bubble - GPUs in warehouses, Anthropic’s dodgy S-1 and IPO and more.
“For the love of god, get out there and vote.” Jon has a message for 2026 voters, plus an all-new podcast on AI’s looming threat to our financial institutions with Ed Zitron. Drops tomorrow!
You know, I have been thinking a bit about William Shatner lately. This is going to sound weird. I think he has finally achieved what he said he wanted for so long, people think of him more as William Shatner than Captain Kirk at long last. Thoughts below.
The legendary Vincent Price died OTD in 1993, six days before Halloween, at the age of 82. The holiday has never quite felt the same. Here are 24 Vincent Price roles from some of his horror movies. If you haven't seen some of them, your work is cut out before October 31st.
Book of place names, I cannot resist you. A thread 🧵 of my favourites:

A NY Times article about the new AI-powered massive border surveillance infrastructure of hundreds of cameras had this tidbit in it that felt very telling of the modern conservative mindset that I've heard before and it's so focused on tribalism that it boggles me, a little.
I know it’s sorta cheesy but someone posted this from Paris on Reddit and I felt this immediate rush of hope
I absolutely cannot see any way that this could go horribly, horribly wrong.
wow, no.
When your board game can cheer for itself! (Having a blast at Essen.)
BioWare was responsible for so many of my favorite games and gaming moments. The number of games that actually affected emotionally - not just fun or engagement but emotional reactions to the story - are low and BioWare was responsible for most of them. Losing the studio like this is a tragedy.
If you sent this image through a time machine to 2007 and showed it to the people who were first passing around “I Can Has Cheezburger” they wouldn’t have believed it possible. Lolcat technology has come so far in these last two decades. Who can say what memes will come in years yet unseen?

I’ve been humming this song all day.
Christopher Lee was already a big fan of The Last Unicorn when he got the role voicing King Haggard in the movie, and brought in his own well-loved copy of the book, with Haggard’s dialogue highlighted, when he arrived at the studio.
We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.
