Remember when DOGE sent out an email to federal workers and demanded they report what they did with their week? We should do a version of that with Mitch McConnell’s staff. Where is he while his staff members are still bringing in six figures with zero transparency?

I’m not dead. I sleep sometimes. Sleep comes very close to death, everyone knows that. The dead walk in dreams, everyone knows that. They come to you alive, and they say things. They walk out of death into the dreams.

There is a four-tier ranking: * The Grand Pantheon—major forces of the universe: love, death, war * Godlings—less fundamental: twilight, plague, volcanoes * Daimones—servants to the other gods, carrying out their tasks * Tutelars—localized divine spirits of rivers, hills, etc. #MythAugust 5

#MythAugust 5 Today is about hierarchy! Who ranks highest or lowest among your gods/spirits/whatever? Is there a consensus about this ranking? As usual, interpret the question as loosely as you need to to fit your specific worldbuilding, and feel free to skip if it's not relevant to you! 😊❤️

#MythAugust prompt for Aug 5:
Let's talk hierarchy! Which of your deities are more powerful/respected? Are there minor deities who serve the big ones?

Background image features a classic painting of Thor wielding his hammer with lightning, about to smote his enemies.
Below the hashtag in small text it says "Presented by @professoremily.bsky.social."
At the bottom of the image in small text it says "Feel free to yap about a fantasy mythology you already have, or use these prompts to create a new one! Don't forget to interact with others :-)"

Entertainment. Don't mean whatever IP farm the studios are churning out, but the fact that almost any creator now has few if any barriers to self-publishing. Not just written works, but also movies, documentaries, talk shows, comics, music, and a lot more can all be self-published easily.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

air travel is one of those experiences that has gotten monotonically worse over my entire lifetime

question though: has *anything* in the last 40+ years genuinely gotten *better*?

like, there's *more* stuff, sure, but is any of it *better*?

Writing a book: First you're going to go quietly mad for a few years. You're going to make a private precious thing that only you know about. It's delicate, introverted and lonely work. Ok? Good so now PUT IT OUT THERE FOR EVERY PERSON TO SEE!!! NOW SELL IT!!! MARKET THE PRECIOUS SECRET BABY!!!!!!

Today in Libraryland: Theatrical makeup classes, percussion craft session, the Summer Reading Challenge, storytimes, digital support volunteers, registrars appointments, pensioner bus pass applications, online ancestry resources, free books, wifi, no rush required, and a coffee #librarylife

For now at least (till the Supreme Court manages to unreason itself out of a precedent) I'm legally married to another man—which was nigh unthinkable 40 years ago. Diagnostic measures & treatments for many #autoimmune disorders have markedly improved. And HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence.

Y'know, call me idealist, but I tend to think society works better when it's *not* being arranged solely for the benefit of a small cadre of weird bigots who're obsessed with what's between other peoples' legs. Y'know?
