Was organised enough last night to thoroughly water the garden so every one should thank me for the rain falling on North Devon today.
One of the things that made re-reading Raymond's memoir really interesting is that he's a rare beast, a member of the British upper classes who was antifascist to the bone, and who understood fascism as the cruelty of bores towards people they couldn't impress any other way.
My Patreon post about Derek Raymond's remarkable memoir The Hidden Files is up for paid subscribers. The book takes you from wartime London to Eton's 'hotbed of buggery' to gangland Soho en route to a metaphysical enquiry into evil, crime & art. It's a good one. www.patreon.com/weirdandconf...
But I didn’t want Cadburys to taste like shite, that’s been imposed on me. Mondolez made $2.4 billion last year they could have swallowed some of the higher cocoa costs, but didn’t, and more importantly, now costs are lower, they won’t reinstate the quality will they?
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
Today I am loving the 1970s covers of Australian food and wine magazine Epicurean. Art director Les Mason
If you are looking for someone to feel better than today a cat just had projectile diahorrea all over me on a busy bus. On the bright side though it was Maddies cat so she now owes me. This picture was just before we took her to the vets. Now we all have the long stare of the permanently traumatised
"Even though he said he'd like to fuck school kids, I will miss him."
I read about Amnesty International complaining that if they actually defended trans people, they would be sued into oblivion by JKR, and I think they missed the fact that they have now destroyed themselves: Nobody is gonna give time or money to an org that folds to pressure on human rights.
Just opened my suburban front window and disturbed a hummingbird moth on my salvia! How cool what a pokemon adjacent little guy
House clearances undertaken is the usual terminology but ok

So much so, it makes me think of my inability to see anything in my head aswell, we just find workarounds and dont even know we are lacking things other people have, because no one declares straight out they have them, its a given. But it isnt.
Whilst simultaneously those very same people are relatively high functioning/have had a lifetime of finding work arounds and presenting as "normal" as possible, so the journos look at those people and think "well, if thats ADHD/autism, it isn't that bad. Surely all of these people can easily work?"
Really chuffed to use the child ticket I have saved on the last day its valid for, I normally miss using them which is a waste...open the app

Not sure hanging out in Paris with Jean Rhys possibly doing lesbian stuff and occasionally teaching piano and trying to become famous is a career really but it sounds cool
Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?
How long do you reckon you would take to eat a whole supermarket aisle of biscuits? I dont think it would take me that long
“She wrote up the results for her senior-year high school research project. It earned an A… Looking for a pattern of brain injury among elite rescue crews was a remarkable thing for a grieving daughter to do. Even more remarkably, the Coast Guard had never done it on its own.”
Rescue Boat Crews Show Signs of Brain Injuries, but Coast Guard Isn’t Looking
Untreated and undiagnosed, the crews that save lives in the roughest seas face the relentless pounding of waves.
