I made mention of this on Instagram yesterday that the people shocked and surprised at what happened at Cornell have not been paying attention to how higher ed treats assault on campus. USC alone has enough skeletons in their closet to last a lifetime on this.

For every story like the Cornell gang rape, there are thousands more that couldn’t make it into the light. I wrote about a few dozen of them at one university in On the Wrong Side. The university’s treatment of survivors is eerily similar to what Jane Doe at Cornell experienced.

My Facebook news feed is full of Lindsay Clancy supporters claiming men aren't speaking out about Cornell and posts from male content creators speaking out about Cornell. Some of them are unintentionally equating themselves with men who excuse SA. It's kind of wild. Anyway, hope the frat boys rot.

See this chart? Workers’ share of the nation’s income is at the lowest it’s been since records began in 1947. Corporate profits’ share, on the other hand, is the highest it’s been since 1950. This is why we must build back worker power.

I don't live in Michigan, but every time I get on Facebook the algorithm drowns me in posts about Haley Stevens. I must have seen hundreds of her posts. Not a single one has mentioned a policy position she holds.

anytime i'm reminded of that she-ra reboot it's that the horse, upon gaining the ability for speech, immediately went 'you have nothing to lose but your chains'. the three main ideologies of she-ra: benevolent matriarchy, fascism, and marxist-horseism

i mean you're technically correct that it's weird and delusional to expect a decent person to get anywhere near the levers of power but what i don't get is howcome instead of examining why we built a society that makes that true we're making fun of people who hope out loud for it to be different?
