YO COMICS, MY JOB IS DONE We made two stories. Story one: a piece of cheese called Frederick and a carrot called Jimmy. Frederick hates his dad, a piece of Brie. This side detail plot pretty much hijacked the whole strip. But nobody died, so that’s a refreshing change. @yocomicsfair.bsky.social

Frederick sits on a shelf in the fridge. Frederick: how am I going to invade other planets from here?
His dad leans into the frame.
Dad: hello son.

Panel two. Frederick: I hate you.
Dad: why? Why? Why?
Frederick: because you smell.
Dad: my own son.

Panel three.
Dad, distraught, exits.
Dad: goodbye forever
Frederick: good.

Panel four.
Dad stands/sits on a saucer.
Dad: I am going to get into my flying saucer and go and invade other planets.
Frederick: wait! I want to do that too!

“Meanwhile, outside the fridge…”
Jimmy the carrot lifts a grand piano over his head.
Jimmy: I am so strong.

Panel six.
Fred‘s dad zips past on his flying saucer, knocking Jimmy off his feet. The Piano is going to fall down and crush Jimmy, but we don’t get to see that.
Dad: whooops
Jimmy: aghh
Frederick is just visible at the side of the panel, wishing that was him causing the mayhem

I asked the kids to create a list of places where a story could happen. The list:
1.Moon.
2.Birmingham.
3.Arsenal Stadium.
4.On the back of a Bee.
5.My house
6.Bromley Glades
7. A fridge.
8.In your mouth.
9.[I can’t read my own writing there, oh dear]
10.Greenwich.
11.School.

Showing the kids how placing a character’s eyes in different places on their heads completely changes their personality.
