Q. 1994 (He/Him)

I am the humanist atheist, left-wing, pro-choice, pro LGBT+, pro-vaccine, pro-book, anti-genocide, outspoken science loving feminist your parents warned you about.

OK, seriously. ONCE AGAIN: Using references IS NOT "CHEATING". Norman Rockwell would take photos to set up the scenes he would later paint. Disney Animators of the classics era would film footage with real-life actors to use as reference for the animators later on. EVERY ARTIST uses references

Use reference. I’m serious. I get it that somehow you or someone convinced you that using reference is “cheating.” It’s not. You are just hindering yourself.

When I was a kid I read as much Anne McCaffrey (yes I know) and Mercedes Lackey as I did Stephen King or Tolkien. I started with the Dragonsinger books, which are about as girlie a sci-fi as you can get and I absolutely adored it. Cis and hetero, all my life.

Eagle-eyed readers might note the almost total lack of hyperlinked evidence for this paragraph's many sweeping generalizations. Among them, that young readers want TOUGH GUY cultural objects that are cruelly being denied them by all these meddlesome women, when, in fact...

A more challenging question can be asked: If more books were published by men with explicitly masculine themes, would there actually be a wider male readership? It’s the old chicken-and-egg dilemma. The audience won’t emerge because the product isn’t there, and the product isn’t there because the audience is elsewhere. Men, obviously, can read and enjoy books by women, but there is the sticky biological reality that, on balance, women will probably prefer reading women, and men may prefer reading men. Boys, especially, seem to long for male teachers and role models in the classroom. As they age, and if they want to read, they might be drawn to the fiction of writers like Ernest Hemingway, Raymond Carver, and McMurtry. They might want literature that, at the bare minimum, seems masculine.

For context: It's from a demo video for DVHS (which was supposed to be an evolution of normal VHS that was digital and allowed HD video) The demo video is mostly shots of NYC in the year 1993. And at one point, the camera crew turn a corner and this guy comes at them telling them to stop filming.

Watching early HD footage for fun and suddenly BOOM WHOOOOOAAAAAa... And we have a nazi... somehow....

Elon Musk and MAGA influencers tried to push a “BOMBSHELL” to destroy James Talarico. Then their smear fell apart under the most basic scrutiny. Now THEIR tactics are raising serious legal questions—and one admitted “public humiliation” was the goal. This backfired spectacularly.

MAGA Sleuths' Talarico 'Bombshell' Blows Up in Their Faces

Elon Musk and his MAGA pals pounced on a supposed bombshell. Then came the inconvenient facts.

It blows my fucking mind that you watched mega millionaires prop up a candidate with dark money, yank it the second she won, and expect her to vanish for their handpicked Independent, and decided the villain is the woman who didn’t play along. Now they'll never try this agian.
