Malaysian in UK. I write fantasy and romance. BEHIND FRENEMY LINES out now!

NEW VIDEO ALERT! Today on Bar Cart Bookshelf we're talking about THE PERILOUS LIFE OF JADE YEO by Zen Cho. A frothy epistolary novella, this literary comedy of manners dazzles and delights in true effervescent style. Utterly charming! Our drink is an Artistic Education, a bright bubbly mocktail.

An advance reader copy THE PERILOUS LIFE OF JADE YEO alongside a red drink in a coupe glass on a table top.

Spirits Abroad by @zenaldehyde.bsky.social, & I defy anybody not to love it. I don't usually like short stories, & only picked it up bc the shop didn't have anything else of hers (dammit, I like bookshops), & now I'm so glad I did! I mean, look at this exchange between two ghost in 'Balik Kampung':

Took a break from life this weekend to read Behind Frenemy Lines by @zenaldehyde.bsky.social. I wasn't sure what to expect because I discovered Cho through her SFF & rarely read romance, but I LOVED it. This book is so delightful! If you read romance at all, you need to read it. #Books #AmReading 📚📖

Katherine Blake's novel The Interior Life where a woman has two lives, an everyday deal with the kids, husband, PTA, etc. and then an amazing secondary world fantasy that she slips in and out of. And @jdnicoll.bsky.social points out it's (amazingly) available free here: www.kithrup.com/~djheydt/
