More than 2,000 NYC families just received free childcare for their 2-year-olds, delivering Zohran Mamdani’s signature campaign promise in under a year. Each seat saves about $26,000 annually. By fall 2027, the program expands to 12,000 seats across all five boroughs. @noticenews.com

media when maga wins an election: we must travel the country and speak to these voters and extend empathy to them and give credence to their bigotry and false beliefs media when the left wins an election: is this the end of the american experiment

Why are the comments on affordability posts always insufferable? UH, I CAN MAKE A BURRITO FOR LESS THAN THAT!! Good for you bro, that completely misses the fucking point. GROCERY PRICES ARE THROUGH THE ROOF, each month, my grocery bill goes up by 25%. I make 90% of my meals adult home. FFS 🤦🏽‍♀️

for reasons that only make sense if you're insane, a TPUSA kid complaining about burrito costs on xitter has the GOP's biggest divas going for each other's throats.

One of our TPUSA college students gave me his take on affordability:

“A burrito shouldn’t cost $20.”

Yeah, a lot of this is a hangover from Covid and Biden-era inflation, but the lived experience is the same: It just feels like basic things cost too much.

it's not why *everything* sucks, but having all three branches of the federal government captured by thieves, abusers, bigots, and cowards is definitely why a lot of things suck

I have so much good condition, child-based *stuff* my kids have outgrown (clothes, toys, entire bedrom set) and this fucking society makes it SO FUCKING HARD for me to give these items away and basically encourages me to place it in a landfill and I fucking hate everything.

Bluesky is a "liberal bubble" because fascist chuds can't get traction without algorithmic assistance and because people here trained themselves to block "debate me" trybois the instant they roll up

Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."

and then these same people attack progressives as "not realistic." ok, what does the party establishment think is realistic? getting republicans to "finally see the light" and "repudiate trump" and support democrats that shit is more delusional than the most whackadoo bernie bro

An initiative on the ballot in Washington state in November would require all athletes seeking to play girl's sports from kindergarten to high school to undergo "genetic screening, a testosterone-levels test, or an examination of their reproductive anatomy" before they can play

The Campaign to Force Genital Exams on Girl Athletes Soon Washington State could require sex-verification tests for those playing sports in schools.

By Andrea González-Ramírez, a senior writer for The Cut who covers systems of power. Those physicals, Maria explains, are usually perfunctory: “Like, Are you walking normally? Are you lightheaded? I have never had to take any clothes off. I’ve never felt uncomfortable or violated.” If IL26-638 were to pass and Maria were still in school, she says she would likely drop out of her team. (We’re withholding Maria’s real name to protect her privacy.) “I honestly don’t know if I would be able to do these tests,” she adds. “It would also make me question, If I do it, are all my teammates going to too? Or would I just play with the three or four girls who are willing to or have access to do it?”

I once had a longtime criminal defense attorney tell me he felt guilty people often said “there’s no way this could have happened because of X, Y and Z,” instead of ”this did not happen because I did not do it.”

Rep. Max Miller: "My former wife has claimed that during a custody exchange at my home that day, I assaulted her…If I had assaulted her, would she have offered to cook me dinner six days later?"

This is why prosecutors have a special standard of professional responsibility! I’m going absolutely crazy here. Prosecutors CANNOT issue charges they know to be false. They CANNOT lie to grand juries, present false evidence. These can and should lead to disbarment. This is highly egregious!

Town Eccentric@towneccentric.bsky.social · 6d ago

I keep telling people this. The point of these ridiculous attempts at prosecution is not entirely to convict people, it is exactly to cripple them with legal fees at the very least. Smear them enough to make the rest of their lives difficult and to discourage more dissent and enforce their power.

My great grandfather was a lawyer like me! Defended many people in Colorado against the klan. But I imagine there would be too many lawyers on the commune, so corn 🌽? My white side were corn farmers and my grandma was one of 11, so procreation mainly 🫩 I guess I’d better start making more babies…

Enough “what would you do on the commune questions” If you got sent back 100 years and were given your grandparent’s job, what are you doing?
