To echo this: if you were at this petting zoo, go to your local ER and explain you had a possible rabies exposure. Untreated, a rabies exposure is 100% fatal. Like, not "maybe you'll die", it's "you will die in weeks & it will awful the whole time you're dying." Do not mess around. GO TO THE ER!

I cannot begin to count the amount of technology tools I have been told in the last 20 years that I need to teach my students how to use because they were the future. 95% of them are gone. A tool is a tool.

Can I also add that we actually work during the summer? I've had at least two different people ask me what I'm doing with my time this summer since I'm not teaching. (And I'm an associate dean.) 🙄

One of the knock on effects we would get if the government had to (and understood it really had to) pay for medical care is that we would actually take a shitload more public health seriously.

The thing about Polio wasn't the deaths it was the disabilities. Polio took healthy young men and permanently disabled them often in very visible ways and that scared the fuck out of people in a very ableist society. My friend's dad had polio, and it left him with one leg shorter than the other.

Having a bad experience with a cyclist should make them want fully separated bike lanes MORE, not less! It will literally keep the bikes away from them!

I'm sure it is bad when cyclists intentionally do things that make themselves or others less safe but that is a completely unrelated conversation unless you're pointing out that good bike infrastructure makes it significantly less likely that cyclist behavior will impact other people in any way!
