Just a European guy with a few opinions. It's a cold, cruel universe out there, and you don't owe anyone kindness. But give it anyway because that's how we make the universe less cruel.

Categories are fake, there will always be weird edge cases where the boundaries fail, this is just a fact. The question is not "is this category REAL or TRUE" the question is "is this category USEFUL" because categories are tools, not features of the universe.

However, "but what if they're Autistic?” is not that. It's either saying that some folks should get a free pass regardless of the impact of their behavior, or it's saying that Autistic people can't treat others with respect and so it's discriminatory to expect it of them. Both are gross, and false.

I am an incredibly strong swimmer who used to be rescue-certified, and part of water rescue is knowing when a lake does not fucking want you in it and not letting any of the people in your group go near it

Meet Dr. Mariangela Hungaria. Her advancements have been used on more than 40 million hectares in Brazil, saving farmers up to $40,000,000,000USD a year while avoiding more than 180 million metric tons of CO2 emissions per year.

This right here is why the saying goes "If you want someone's measure, look at how they treat the wait staff". If they're an asshole other people but nice to you it means they think you have ability to make them face consequences, not that they have a nice side.

"she's always nice to ME, I'm sure it's a misunderstanding" Congratulations on being chosen as a character witness. Almost no bully is rude and mean to people they think have social power they can leverage advantageously, or who will make a stink if they're an asshole.

You know what would help the film industry in the United States, Senator? If the US government would stop sending unidentifiable, heavily-armed, masked men into our communities to kidnap, rape and kill our neighbors. Yes, women and children are being raped in DHS detention facilities. Spare me.

The reason JKR is suddenly saying more and more “moderate” seeming things is not because her views are “moderate”, you daft shits. It’s because she is registering that her extremely overtly transphobic points are now making her very unpopular.

“My marriage ended when I refused to stop fighting for the rights of my wife” is one of those things that should make you check yourself

This figure was achieved through extremely low standards. That’s why so many American products are banned in Europe. Since the 2000s, the U.S. has tried to work around these restrictions through customs tariffs. The Argentinian beef shipment to Florida had been rejected by Chinese authorities.

Yeah, that says "You are guaranteed to die of rabies. You are not guaranteed to die of rabies post-exposure vaccination. Take the vaccine to prevent exposure from becoming rabies, because there's a chance we can keep you alive from whatever reaction, and no chance we can keep you alive from rabies"

You can split everyone who fell for the idiotic horseshit about defending free speech from leftist totalitarianism into two broad categories: far right cranks who always knew it was a dumb scam, and easily led idiots who didn’t stop to ask and didn’t really care.

A district court judge says America must admit and keep foreigners who hate America and hate Americans. Court-ordered civilizational suicide. It will not stand.

Judge declares Rubio's speech-based student deportations violate the ConstitutionNorthern District of California Judge Noël Wise, an appointee of former President Joe Biden, sided with the Stanford Daily, which sued Secretary of State Marco Rubio, arguing that his use of the Immigration and Nationality Act to deport noncitizen students had foreign students refraining from writing opinion pieces critical of the administration."In the United States, freedom of speech belongs to the people," Wise wrote in her opinion. "It is not the government's to take."
Another plaintiff was an unnamed woman who is a lawful noncitizen in the U.S. who was previously in the country on a student visa at a school that was not Stanford and "has refrained from publishing
and voicing her true opinions regarding Palestine and Israel and has deleted a social media account to guard against retaliation for past expression," according to court documents.A State Department spokesperson, given anonymity to discuss internal thought processes within the agency, told POLITICO that the U.S. "is under no obligation to admit or suffer the presence of individuals who subvert our laws and deny our citizens their Constitutional rights."
"More broadly, the Department of State is committed to protecting our nation and its citizens by upholding the highest standards of national security and public safety through our visa process," the spokesperson said. "A visa is a privilege, not a right."
The ruling comes after the administration's campaign last year to revoke visas and seek the deportations of foreign students involved in the pro-Palestinian movement. Among those subjected to deportation proceedings were Columbia University activists Mahmoud Khalil and Mohsen Mahdawi, Tufts University doctoral grad Rümeysa Oztürk and Georgetown University scholar Badar
Khan Suri.

Rabies is 100% fatal if untreated. Please help spread the word about the exposure at the Farm Adventures mobile petting zoo in North Carolina. The vaccine is incredibly effective and will save your life. Also…. Rabies at a petting zoo!?!? www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...

maybe you saw this and thought "it feels like this is the fiftieth time i've seen this one story"? nope you just saw fifty different stories once

Had a TERF troll come to my event at Edinburgh today, who wanted to defend the “lovely Jo Rowling” during my q&a. Reader, my reply was impassioned. I didn’t insult her or call her a name; but I robustly and heatedly defended the lives of young trans people against very unlovely billionaires.

Ok, I'm waiting for 2 things: the Hugo's and a specific email. I will be very sad if both go negative, and it would be freaking life changing if both go positive. I'd take a 50/50 happily, tho. The problem is THE WAITING.
