If elected mayor, I pledge to hire 1,000 new CTA rail operators.

Honestly this should just be permanent. Plenty of room for people to walk and take photos over the river.
I just sent a letter to my alderman urging him to reject Mayor Johnson's appointment of Lester Barclay to the Northern Illinois Transit Authority board of directors. You should too ➡️ www.savetransit.org/nita-board

One year later, the Glenwood contraflow lane is back between Foster and Berwyn. Still missing, at least as of today, between Balmoral and Catalpa.
The current dew point in Chicago (76°F) is the same as New Orleans
CDOT lost the best of our team yesterday. We're heartbroken. In memory of Riley O'Neil, please refer to these bike racks as "Riley Racks". He led Chicago's bike parking program for several years. Our hearts are broken, but we want to make sure his legacy lives on 💙🚲 Please spread the word
URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Mayor Johnson's 2026 bond proposal defunds safe streets infrastructure by a whopping 70% – putting our communities in jeopardy by threatening the progress we've made in preventative infrastructure. Email him and your alderperson today and tell them to reverse course!

The Broadway upzoning passes the land use commission 15-2. Loud cheers break out
While MTA offers fare caping on NYC subways and buses, CTA wants to go in the opposite direction. Taping to pay with a bankcard or mobile wallet will cost extra in their proposed budget, making the system more expensive and less accessible to occasional riders. www.transitchicago.com/finance/

Long but hopefully fulfilling transit nerd thread incoming: I want to talk about that I’m super proud of, and which is a culmination of things we’ve done in the past as well as things I’ve seen elsewhere that I wanted to bring home to Chicago: New digital at RPM stations that we hope to expand!
ACTUALLY what is driving the surge is DRIVERS SPEEDING.
With Granville wrapping up, work has now begun on the new Winnemac Greenway! This involves a one-way conversion between Clark and Broadway (contraflow lane is striped, but no one-way signage just yet). There are advisory lanes west of Ashland.
The Granville traffic safety project is almost complete. The biggest change is strategic one-way (vehicular) conversions at Broadway, Clark, and Ridge to prevent cut-through traffic. No more turns onto Granville from Clark and all vehicles on Granville must turn at Clark.
no human is illegal unless they want to live in apartments in my neighborhood
Just walked by this
Raised crosswalk with French drains at Roscoe & Elaine. Would be better if CDOT redid the ramps and kept the grade consistent for pedestrians.
“Sorry, we can’t have more housing because 0.05% of people in the Ward said no.”
FUCK OFF GIL VILLEGAS
Here it is, CDOT’s completed “raised intersection” and Damen/Winnemac.
Today at the ribbon cutting for CTA’s brand new 100% accessible Red line stations, Senator Simmons made the call clear: it’s time for legislators to get back to Springfield NOW for a special session and fully fund public transit! We can’t wait! We have to get this done now!
Thank you activists for showing up. Right now let’s fiercely fight not only for reforms needed for Chicago public transit systems so it works for all of us, but also for sustainable funding. Call every level of government that represents you. Hold us accountable. Let’s win this together
I love hearing the sound of the new Red Line echoing throughout Edgewater in the morning
Shout out to the Chicago Fire Department for rescuing the person stuck in the brand new elevator at Lawrence. He was fine thankfully 😅
CDOT put out 6 new bike/scooter parking corrals in Wrigleyville today! These were placed in the daylight zone, making them defacto curb bump outs that shorten the distance pedestrians have to cross the street. More device parking, safer streets, clearer sidewalks & less clutter!
Hey CDOT, if your “raised intersection” doesn’t require you to modify the ADA ramps, you haven’t actually raised anything. Damen & Winnemac.
First details I’ve seen of the new Winnemac Greenway, from the latest 40th Ward newsletter. Biggest change is conversion to one way vehicle traffic between Clark and Broadway.
The CTA invested $2 billion in modernizing the Red and Purple lines. We should let more people live near these newly accessible stations. Send a letter to the zoning committee if you agree
Tell the Zoning Committee to Support Thousands of New Homes in Uptown and Edgewater
The proposed Broadway upzoning from Montrose to Devon in the 46th, 47th, and 48th Wards is a crucial step forward for Chicago. This proactive plan addresses the urgent need for more housing by moderni...
