amazing how so few of the gazillion think pieces criticizing women for not dating straight men fail to mention the whole “many of them literally don’t wash their asses” thing:
I remember a coworker in her late twenties saying this on how dating was so difficult. I was not surprised by her first two complaints: general anger issues and having few outside hobbies. I WAS surprised at her mention of how many men apparently don’t wash their hair or butts.
Somehow things that would have been a background gag in a Verhoeven movie are now just real

If people are not keen on Pratchett, then fair enough, but Robert Tressell also explained the same idea really well in the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists in 1914 Replace coal with energy key meters and it's as relevant today as it ever was.
I love writing the primary previews even though they're a giant pain in the ass because how else would I be able to share with the world that there's a real American election where the only two candidates on the ballot are named Ford Carr and Bonita Gooch
EA's annual Ebitda is around $1.5 billion, which should be enough to service the interest payments. But the publisher has told debt investors that it will cut $700 million in annual costs including $170 million in "organizational efficiencies," per Bloomberg. In other words: mass layoffs
EA officially goes private tonight, meaning: - EA will no longer trade on the NASDAQ for the first time in 36 years - All stockholders of EA (including many employees) will receive $210/share - EA will take on $18 billion (!) in debt, putting it on the hook to pay ~$1.8 billion/year in interest
If you say “God is in His Heaven, all is right with the World” your comphet is showing THE END
"Today is August 4, 2026." Can't find my copy of The Martian Chronicles to take a photo of the actual published story, but it remains a collection well worth reading 76 years later: bookshop.org/a/862/9781668094853 #books #writing
happy there will come soft rains day to all those who partake
"don't make enough money" is a fig leaf All those degree programs--social work, art, etc.--have disproportionately female student bodies. This is designed to make it harder for women to attend college--college education being a key factor in women's autonomy from men & left-leaning voting pattern.
President Trump is banning students majoring in degrees that don’t make enough money from taking out college loans. Degrees for social work, art, religious studies, teaching aides, and music will be hit the hardest. trib.al/aaAEu6v
@bsky.app was built on weird + queer people breathing life into it, and here they are, turning around to ban us one by one because we're inconvenient to their image. We are a sign of a healthy online environment. Without us, I promise you this place will devolve into a cesspit and/or a ghost town.
Both @mutariesco.bsky.social and @taitora.bsky.social have had their accounts (temp)suspended recently due to 'the promotion of NSFW content involving real animals', this being TF porn. Given they are being censors by automatic bots, there ain't much you can actually do to fight this-
i had a brilliant insight regarding how LLMs function, and how, despite being copyright infringement at every step of the way, so far, openai and its cohorts have escaped judgment by virtue of the sheer scale of infringement having diluted the relative probability of recreating any given text entire
i hope that one day the iPhone 5 body will return for one last glorious time. call it the iPhone Nano, just for giggles. It can’t end with the 2016 iPhone SE.
And that's if you're even playing in good faith. Across the country, prosecutors are arguing that anything LGBTQ+ counts as "harmful to minors."
"Our Governor just signed legislation that protects children from accessing adult material online. This event mocks the very protections so many have fought for by exposing preschoolers to adult material that is not only inappropriate, but far beyond their level of cognitive development." The book:
The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.
So I’ve brought back NO DICE! Just yellin it out at every chance. You may not like it, but the World needs ppl like me, just an unassuming hero screamin—NO DICE!
