Tell them that the notebook will be part of their final grade, that the 2nd to last day of class will be notebook review with students getting btwn 5-20 points added to their grade based on it.

The appalling reality of the cheating machine is that students will cheat if they can use it, and then fail any exam where they cannot. Nobody benefits from this except for the people who negotiate enterprise AI accounts for universities.
