I just finished reading this book. I can't praise it highly enough. It is worth your time, it is worth your energy, it is worth your attention, it is worth a visit to your local library or your purchase. It may even have helped inform me as an ally in some subtle ways. 100% great stuff.

Hi, new followers! Someone else did a "happy Pride, all my books are gay!" thread and now I want to do it too. First up is IGNORE ALL PREVIOUS INSTRUCTIONS, just out this May. A sapphic cis woman and a trans space pirate team up to fight genAI, book bans, and censorship. Super queer and super fun!

Cover of Ignore All Previous Instructions by Ada Hoffmann. The cover art features a big cartoon Jupiter with a little cartoon spaceship flying over it against a starry background. On the cartoon spaceship there is a tiny Jolly Roger.

Some days the author inbox is a wasteland of AI-generated "Let me rephrase the back cover blurb of your book and offer to market it in some absurd way!" scam emails, but some days there is still that rare, precious gem of a heartfelt letter from an actual human and let me tell you. That matters.

Clarkesworld has recently discovered that their August issue successfully breached containment and gained access to the Internet, where it is presently hacking reader's minds. "Oh no, what will we do? Who knew that stories could be so powerful?" said Neil Clarke, when approached for comment.

The August issue of Clarkesworld is now online and features stories by Ravn J. Silver, Eilis O’Neal, Jordan Alexander, D.A. Xiaolin Spires, E.N. Auslender, Y.M. Pang, and H.H. Pak. clarkesworldmagazine.com/issue_239 Subscribe today at: clarkesworldmagazine.com/subscribe/

The August issue of Clarkesworld features cover art by Thomas Brissot. A young woman flanked by two robots with large swords aimed straight down appear to be conversing with a tall water bird on the edge of a leafy area. The title is "A Visit To The Oracle" and the bird's beak is open as if speaking. The background fades shows a palace of sorts behind the bird but only whiteness behind the other figures.

Sure is interesting how the moment a lot of women/girls/AFAB folks start being diagnosed with something, suddenly we get an upswing in 'it's overdiagnosed'/'it's not real'/'it's just a fad'.

Summer is a sort of weird time in my profession. On the one hand, you have all this free time, and it's sunny and often nice out, when things aren't on fire. On the other hand, the structure and the reward systems and the colleagues that you depend on during the rest of the year are just... gone.

It's #DisabilityPride Month, so here's some writing tips from me, a full-time professional author who is disabled and lives with multiple chronic illnesses. I deal with chronic pain and fatigue, executive dysfunction, brain fog, and mobility issues. I have been a professional author sinve 2021.

Kelli works for a media company, and Rowan's entire job is smuggling queer media to people who clandestinely need it, so... actually they would both be good at this? But they would both go about it in two very different ways, and probably jealously compete to see whose approach was working better.

My father taught me to be wary of scams, especially when a scammer sets the rules. Well, that's the end goal of the current AI scam -- the tech bros want people to think every bit of good writing or art must be created by AI. Don't play their game by falsely accusing people of AI use. 6/

I love @r-emrys.bsky.social's Seeds of Story column but I was not expecting the specal treat of a shout-out to my own book! "[A] great celebration of queer artistic weirdness and a great cynical critique of LLM companies... Highly recommended!" reactormag.com/touching-gra... #IgnoreThisBook
