Watch: A Fascinating Philosophical Interview with Christopher Nolan

Watch: A Fascinating Philosophical Interview with Christopher Nolan

"They're judging it relative to the overall cultural flow of the movement of cinema and the conventions of cinema." Now that you've seen it, learn more about the choices writer / director Christopher Nolan made adapting The Odyssey for the big screen in this excellent interview. For many years, Nolan was famous for never doing allowing any online interviews – only magazines & newspapers. All that has changed and he has been front and center in the promo campaigns for his last two movies Oppenheimer and The Odyssey. This interview has gone viral online and it's entirely worth a watch. Yiyang Zhuge is a Chinese political theorist & translator who teaches at Brandeis University, and also a PhD Candidate at Boston College. She conducted an interview with Nolan for the Chinese release of The Odyssey and all 17 minutes of this conversation are worth listening to – view the full video below. I love how she pushes back at Nolan, I dig her philosophical questions about language, being the "bard for a civilization at dusk" (yes he definitely is), and Christianizing this Ancient Greek story. And I also dig Nolan's very thoughtful answers to these ideas. Both are engaging in this conversation in an intellectual way and it's rare we ever see interviews this good for Hollywood movies. // Continue Reading ›

God, Angel Studios. At least back in the day when you had a studio that majored in cheap right wing schlock it had ninjas and richard lynch getting shot in the crotch with a rocket launcher.

Top 5 performances in THE ODYSSEY 1. Robert Pattinson (extremely funny) 2. Matt Damon 3. Samantha Morton (one of the best female characters Nolan has ever written) 4. Himesh Patel (enjoyed how every single one of his lines had a “Jesus Christ man” subtext) 5. Argus the Dog (good boy)

I know the world is totally messed up in 100 ways right now. But I am utterly shocked and constantly in awe of how blatant, full-on racism is not only "back" but fully normalized and powerful again. It is utterly INSANE TO ME. How did this happen?!?! WTF is wrong with people.

FYI there is no "real" reason why Rome "fell." Its power waned for the usual, mundane reasons: widening gap between rich and poor, inability to maintain infrastructure, incompetent leadership, pointless wars, endless persecution of marginalized groups who performed vital labor, etc.

I built a time machine to ask Homer what he thought of Christopher Nolan's Odyssey adaptation and he just gave me an annoyed grunt

Laura Dern pays tribute to Sam Neill. “Sam was my beloved lifetime friend. He showed me the depths of loyalty, protectiveness and love, always with the driest wit. He was a true and noble gentleman, wrapped up in my dream leading man. I will love you forever, Dr. Alan Grant.”

Full International Trailer for 'Hope' - Na Hong-jin's Sci-Fi Action Film

"That's when all hell broke loose!" Plus M Entertainment in Korea has launched their full official trailer for the bonkers epic sci-fi movie made by Korean filmmaker Na Hong-jin (of The Chaser, The Yellow Sea, The Wailing) titled simply Hope. This premiered at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival where it caused a storm with completely polarizing reactions. Did it even belong at the festival? Is it junk? Is it amazing? Is it an instant cult classic? Watch and find out (here is my mixed review). A mysterious discovery is made on the outskirts of a remote harbor town when a monster suddenly attacks. The residents find themselves in a desperate fight for survival against something they've never encountered before – alien creatures that have crashed nearby... Hope stars Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, with special appearances by Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender as aliens. This film has tons of awesome action scenes in it, playing out in both the forest and in this town and all over the place. The US release in September, but it opens in Korea first this month which is why this preview is out now. This trailer includes English subtitles – get a load of all this crazy footage! Sci-fi geeks need to watch this movie no matter what. // Continue Reading ›

Enjoy This Tom Cruise Retrospective Trailer for 'Digger' Later This Year

"A man. A plan. A meltdown." Yeehaw! Warner Bros has debuted the second official trailer for Digger, but it's not really a real trailer – it's a Tom Cruise riff! This Tom Cruise Retrospective Trailer has been playing in theaters already, ending with a couple of extra shots from Digger. It's a glorious 2-min look back at the exceptional & unforgettable career of the iconic superstar actor Tom Cruise. His highly anticipated, very expensive new project is known as Digger - because Tom Cruise stars as a man named Digger Rockwell. Who is he? Well, we're still not sure. The plot is still one big secret. The only other synopsis adds: The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity's savior before the disaster he's unleashed destroys everything. This is going to be wild! The full cast also features: Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D'Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlbarg, John Goodman. With cinematography by maestro Emmanuel Lubezki reuniting with Innaritu again after Birdman & The Revenant. There was another short teaser out late last year which was a crazy funky intro. This new promo today also confirms that the first real trailer with actual footage drops in July – and will be showing in front of The Odyssey in theaters this summer. Who's ready for more? // Continue Reading ›
