I help build communities because I believe deeply in communities. Posting about that + tech, education, music, film, art, and...unfortunately...the Brooklyn Nets.

I'm immensely proud to announce that my texture library that's been in the making for nearly a decade is now available on my itchio store for indie devs to purchase commercial licenses. makkon.itch.io

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

Fully agree. I've been on a 🎢 coaster: ititial "good" LLMs made me worried, but revenue has increased 20% in the past year and we don't do AI. Good LLMs create business chaos, and I am a chaos enjoyer. Happy to talk agentic with clients, but the "expert" work is always that: talking. With humans.

tbh, I think a lot of the folks who are in this spot have let low self-confidence or terror chip away at their understanding of the difference between technician and expert work. being paid well into six figures to be a technician was never going to be sustainable.

a lot of people act like there's a trade being offered where we give up trans athletes in sports and in exchange fascism is defeated forever

The political ennui I feel lately isn’t doomerism that Dems can’t do well in the mid-terms—I anticipate they will—it’s that I do not trust them to do anything with any power they regain. I’m not even confident they have the slightest idea what they’d do with it.

Democratic strategists: Ahhh! What's the right message!!?? Where do we moderate!?!? Jon Ossoff: This administration is horrible. I hate these people. We should put them in jail. I'm pissed Voters: This guy is cool Strategists: I can't figure it out!!!!!

I think Criterion maybe hid this exploded diagram of the Lone Wolf And Cub baby cart I did for them a bit too well? And never mentioned me either in the short doc about artists who worked on it ~:( Seems like most people don't know they have it. But every now and then someone finds it again...

Good grief, thanks to a video on Instagram, I've just discovered that the Criterion edition of Lone Wolf & Cub (that I've had on my shelf for about 9 years) has a secret compartment in the spine containing the blueprint for the weaponised babycart..!

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview. IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing. Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

went to vintage computer festival today, its so funny how nerds who aren’t fascists or love ai are still out there making super neat stuff and love showing off their cool old repurposed tech
