Devs, pay attention to who is actually, practically offering support to our laid off colleagues. It’s not the companies, it’s not the ESA, it’s the union, it’s us.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. If every game is late and over budget than obviously budgets and timetables are elaborate theater covering up a production process that is unmanaged chaos. it is insane to think that it cannot be structurally improved in a way that makes our lives more stable

FWIW I think it's a little strange that "Arkane's Blade is late and over budget" is becoming a lingering news story when the total number of big video games that were *not* late and over budget could be counted on one hand

Saying we should all go back to physical media I think misses the point. I actually *like* buying games and movies digitally for a bunch of reasons. What we need is better consumer protections so the things we do buy digitally are actually owned and companies cant delete/revoke access!

it seems very strange to me to deprecate blueprints, after everyone including epic lauded E33 so hard, a game that is mostly made in blueprint it's a great system that enables "non coders" to code why are we throwing it out

The news will be like this just in! One guy has all of the money. Truly astonishing In other news, where has all the money gone? And why are young people not earning or spending like they used to? Join us at 11 as experts weigh in on these two unrelated questions

We have no money. You know this. Why do you keep asking why we’re not doing things we used to do? It’s because we have no money. We. Have. No. Money. We have no money. There is no money left. It’s all gone. None of us have it. No money. Nope. Money gone. We don’t have it. No.

That's part of the broken social contract that I don't think the no-take-only-throw-ass economics overlords don't get. I now see any funds I have as my only defense against indiscriminate predation. I have figured out you will kill me and drain my corpse.

i think generally you shouldn't let other people decide whether or not you make art. they might influence how, or what resources you have to work with, but whether or not you're going to try at all should be an internal decision. don't let the bastards get you down

Good, and very important lil thread. I had people telling me "don't try to get into game narrative" when I was a jr and times in the industry were GOOD. Trust me, I understand feeling angry with the industry but telling people this kind of thing is both deeply unhelpful and makes you seem sus.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
