I think it really is worth concentrating on Labour picking up 2/3 of the vote (2nd round) in an election many thought they would lose as opposed to focusing on Restore managing a grand total of 8.7% in the first round. Let’s not overdo the dooming about the latter.
How do the results in Greater Manchester Mayorality compare to previous elections? While Labour is well down on its 2024 vote it was significantly up on the locals in Greater Manchester, while both Reform and the Greens are down, with Restore Britain not far off 1 in 10 votes.

4/ Net zero is the cheaper path for Britain. @thecccuk.bsky.social ran the full numbers in March this year. Net zero pays for itself and then some. Benefits worth around £110bn a year out to 2050, overtaking the costs from 2029. Every pound spent comes back more than double.

This is even worse than Badenoch’s letter yesterday, as she has space to explain what she would do instead of net zero targets to tackle the climate change she accepts is real but then doesn’t. She accuses Labour of not having a plan, then insists we should trust her unannounced plan will be better.
