A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

We report: there is a warm bit of wind tonight, but in comparison to the daytime temperatures, it feels like a crisp one. We find goosebumps on our arms. All of the outside smells have been stripped down to their earthiest components: hot dust, dry grass, salt.

What the fuck is it good for? Im asking sincerely. Medical people say its shit for diagnosing, its utter garbage for creative fields, it cannot teach and hallucinates false answers, programmers have to fix its code half the time, businesses find it doesn't help productivity and it causes psychosis.

Artists, it looks like Adobe might be doing very questionable things at the moment by auto-enrolling you into a more expensive AI-heavy "pro" plan (potentially even charging you for opting out after the fact, which I should hope is illegal). Be vigilant 🧵 see further posts below

I feel like this one image alone solidifies why I’ll never understand AI: this little guy was made by a human, centuries ago, but but now their art still exists. They’ve personified their love of making a little guy for people to still experience, this was a part of them they made and lived on

Not that either of the options is good or healthy but frankly I think using ai for inspirarion and reference is even worse than letting it render stuff out. I think the initial kernel is the most personal thing, what you choose to depict and how; fighting your improficiencies to get it out

Shocked to see some artists saying that using ai slop as reference is ok. It's really fucking not. Not only are you still using the mashed-up uncredited work of the rest of us artists, but it degrades your whole visual library because it hallucinates. If you do this I do not respect you
