🚨Happy to share a new preprint from Lerner Lab led by graduate student @nadelneurosci.bsky.social! 🚨 “Adolescent stress recruits a latent amygdala-dopamine circuit to drive punishment-resistant reward-seeking” This has been a wholly impressive effort by Jacob; summary below 👇 #neuroskyence🧪

I see a lot of you talking about "dopamine" and I wish you'd go back to talking about your astrological signs because at least then you wouldn't be confusing yourself about a real thing

Nearly all ovarian cancers, including most fatal forms, start in the fallopian tubes. The good news is that tubal removal offers effective prevention, though it does affect fertility. How do we know this? A curious Dutch PhD student and “a lot of science”. Keep funding research! 🎁🔗

Not my usual 'cup of tea'. I preface this simply because I found Gina Kolata's article about ovarian cancer worth passing along for 2 reasons. 1st, we—my wife and I—are humans of a certain age. 2nd, the topic of cancer, scares the shit out of almost everyone. FYI. www.nytimes.com/2026/07/28/h...

There’s a Way to Prevent Ovarian Cancer. Few Know About It. (Gift Article)

The vast majority of cases begin in the fallopian tubes — and removing them can reduce the risk by nearly 80 percent.

was just telling someone that in the scene in this where he has dinner with Julia Roberts the moment when she calls him a liar and a thief and he tells her "I only lied about being a thief" is somehow the most attractive any man has ever been?!?!

Leaders from a range of faith communities across Texas came together to send a unified anti-ICE message to Gov. Greg Abbott (R) and state lawmakers, saying ICE operations go against their core religious values.

Basically every drug you have ever heard of had its origins in public research funding, in a field that didn't seem like it was going anywhere, because some researchers were interested in the basic science.

Yesterday the US Administration supercharged its explicit effort to bar international students from staying in the US after graduation. All Americans should know: 1/3 of *all* STEM PhDs working in the US are immigrants who graduated from US universities, then stayed. www.piie.com/index%2Ephp/...

The US built the greatest talent magnet ever, attracting the smart, skilled, and striving. They’d come to study, then stay and build things here, or leave with positive impressions and fruitful connections. Helped make the US wealthy and powerful. Then America chose to throw it away. And for what?

Congrats we just made it impossible to come here for a PhD www.bostonglobe.com/2026/07/16/m...

This was the point all along. To insist that everyone fits neatly into a pink or blue box, so that it's easier to justify treating the whole pink box as less deserving of rights and opportunities and dignities than the blue.

My god. The Heritage Foundation, which mercilessly attacked transgender kids in order to protect the "integrity of women's sports," is now attacking the legal basis for women's sports. The transgender student decision is barely 2 weeks old.
