There’s obviously nothing wrong with people going into the skilled trades, but most trades have their own systems through which people get trained. Also, I would be curious to see how many Republican administration officials and elected leaders have Gen Z kids who work in the trades.

In a college sociology class in the late 1980s I was assigned a Marxist analysis of education that argued that the US education system is designed primarily to produce efficient workers for the labor market. And now Trump’s Department of Education is just tweeting it out.

Looks like yesterday was quite a good day for 6 state leaders to call for just such a moratorium! Congrats to Rep. Leslie MuΓ±oz , Rep. Chaichi, Sen. Neron, Sen. Golden, & Candidates Carpenter & Myrna MuΓ±oz. Who will join them? These 6 have a righteous fight & the State of Oregon behind them.

NEW: Eleventh Circuit, on an 8-5 vote, holds that Florida's anti-drag law is likely constitutional. A majority of the court, however, disagreed with Just Brasher that the court should rule on whether the statewide injunction entered in the case was an improper "universal injunction." Law Dork:

Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion

A photo of a male northern flicker (Colaptes auratus) crouched on a weathered tree stump in warm, orange-toned lighting. It's a sleek woodpecker with black-and-taupe barring on its back and wings, and its breast is covered in small black spots and a large black chest bar. It has a red malar (mustache) stripe marking it as male, dark eyes, a long dark gray beak, and a red spot on the back of its head. It faces right, set against a blurred green and gold background.

🚨BREAKING: Nearly a year after voting advocates launched a campaign to prevent a GOP gerrymander from taking effect in Missouri, Secretary of State Denny Hoskins officially blocked the citizen-initiated referendum on the new map from appearing on the ballot. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...

Missouri blocks anti-gerrymander referendum from November ballot in attempt to silence voters

Voter advocatesΒ are expected to immediately challenge the move and ask the courts to ensure that Missouri voters have the final say on the map.

You don't know the half of it. (My old apartment on SW 16th had a regular raccoon visitor who opened up the neighbor's door and helped himself to dog/cat food. He threw a literal tantrum when the neighbor added a lock to the porch door and he couldn't get in, and woke me from a dead sleep at 3 am.)
