The scale of discrimination is abhorrent, and will be amplified for transpeople who will be conveniently over or under included in however this is defined. But it’s also a message to the world & US institutions -tourism, business, research, education- that women are not welcome or safe.

Not just cruel but asinine: Would this mean any woman who is not a citizen but is currently in the US on a valid work or study visa would be subject to scrutiny if they went overseas, attended a conference, visited family or vacation abroad? Every female tourist? If fall pregnant after arriving?

This is something I wanted to learn at the lamp museum in Bruges! There was a mention there of access to lighting as a marker of wealth, but no indication that the price has dropped by a factor of 10,000 in 700 years. That's a real nice number.

It was enlightening to take part in this project as one of the 50 NSW renters tracking temperature and humidity in our homes. That 40-degree day was horrifically funny. The cool change came through early in the evening and it was 20C outside by 11pm, but it was 30C *and rising* in our apartment.

From December 2025 to March 2026, we tracked the temperatures inside 50 NSW renters' homes. We found that their homes not only didn't protect them from the extremes of the summer heat, but that their homes are, in fact, hotter inside than out. They are worse than nothing. They are ovens.
