oh I like this! should we do for @leaflet.pub? idk if this *exact* thing but <3 the idea of encouraging convo not just recs/shares kind of a "yes, and…" ladder ideally, b/c likes/shares are *also* useful, but they are not The Thing! and yeah I'm a big fan of quote sharing as positive spotlight!

"Content" and the Engagement Wars

Why the word "content" has always been a red-herring, and comments are even better than Retweets.

Haus of Decline put something I've been thinking about for years into a more succinct and shareable package. Today's #blog post both compiles and expands my thoughts on the word "content" as well as the Likes vs Reposts" debate. Spoilers: Comments are out of style, but they're better than either.

YES That's exactly what I keep saying to people asking me about atproto VS ActivityPub Different people and organizations will have different preferences about them, and it's fine, one might work better for another We can always communicate and find each other using the bridges

This. I don't think anyone is really anti-AI. They're anti-the-companies-pushing-AI. LLMs have some really incredible use cases. They can be assistive technologies, help with mental load, and allow you to focus more on the present than an endless stream of tasks or your phone.

Crappy morning. I find LLMs really beneficial in certain areas of my life, but a lot of people think AI use of any kind is the devil. While this is irritating, what frustrates me more is knowing the real problem is the companies trying to shove this crap up every orifice of our lives. I'm so tired.

OH! Also forgot to mention #Boardgames! From what I can tell, the boardgaming community is thriving on Bluesky. Hoping some decide to start Atmosphere blogs focusing on aspects within the community, like board game design, events, new releases, etc.

Debbie Ridpath Ohi@debbieohi.com · 2d ago

Hoping to find Atmosphere blogs (eg on @leaflet.pub @pckt.blog @offprint.app) focused on a particular community OTHER than tech or ATproto. Esp would love curated digests re: - #KidLit news - literary / #Publishing communities - indie #Comics - #Filk music community lab.leaflet.pub/3mp7sis6bfs2d

"What do you find appealing in the furry art?" This is a big post where I ask myself the question I generally ask furries a lot when I have the occasion. The alt texts gives more thoughts on the concepts I tried here. And you, how did you discover the fandom? Feel free to tell me if you want!

What if the DMA forced X into adopting ATProto? Ultimately I think it would be better than what we've got now, I think everyone should be on ATProto or AP, but it wouldn't be better than the organization went down completely.

Being anti-AI isn't enough. You should be pro-art, pro-artist, pro-writer, pro-worker. Don't expend all your energy tearing people down. Spend it lifting people up instead. Make their voices so loud, their art so visible, it drowns out the slop.

Hot take: Proliferation of press paywalls and social media service deprioritization of external links have done more to throw gasoline on the fire of misinformation/disinformation than AI image generation.

hey bluesky, i've been unemployed since i graduated. i'm proficient in typescript and python, and can learn new stuff fairly quick. also familiar with using LLMs in various ways. Please hire me.

What’s funny is I’m a real tech wonk. If AI wasn’t in the hands of untrustworthy rich fucks with delusions of grandeur, I’d be all in the boat for a bunch of reasons.

have people just completely forgotten that some things are fun/enjoyable to some people and not to others? i love baking my own bread! vast majority of people do not make their own bread and get it from a corporation producing it at scale with machines! i don’t shame them or look down on them!

Hi guys, I'm sorry to have to ask for this again but I really could use your support. My father died recently and now I have fallen behind on rent. If you could please chip in a few dollars, it would really help me keep going. I need to raise $10,000 asap to pay expenses. Thank you so much ❤️

good morning from the Philippines, quick updates on the Atmospheric Furry Radar: - first issue will drop soon over the weekend for July 12 through 25 then second one around August 4-5, pardon being busy with other stuff - still tweaking the @leaflet.pub publication on theming, especially with fonts
