I’m used to talking about abortion policy in academic and activist spaces, so it was fun and new to represent the @codoulaproject.bsky.social and discuss with a group of med students.

Defended the proposal yesterday! It was fun to essentially trap a group of people in a room and talk at them about abortion for awhile.

On Fri night, Brooklyn court staff forced a woman to give birth inside the courtroom. Per public defenders, she gave birth in handcuffs, unable to reposition herself, unable to pick up her infant. The men who’d shackled her looked on. The judge lauded the birth of a ‘beautiful baby’ on the record.

Yes, the cashier should be able to afford rent, groceries, and healthcare with their one paycheck. And the janitor. And the waitress. And the fry cook. And the teacher.

I want to reassure everyone that abortion providers have been ready to switch to misoprostol-only abortion for a long time now, and clinics can still provide mifepristone in person. You can still access abortion and there are people who will help.

Texas Tech University canceled a speech by Dr. Shelley Sella, the first woman to openly practice third-trimester abortion care in the U.S., after pressure from an anti-abortion group. Every attack on free speech is a threat to our democracy.
