Peggy Flanagan: "We need to rip ICE apart and stop from them from terrorizing our communities"
An election judge and DOJ observers work through a disagreement over where federal observers can stand outside Powderhorn Park Recreation Center.
This is absolutely WILD. Here's the dashboard video posted by @fritschner.bsky.social. Fast forward to about 1 minute. An ICE officer jumps out of a van and pulls a gun on this woman immediately before lying and claiming she "almost ran us over." *profanity warning if watching in public.
Video of an ICE agent pulling a gun on a wife and mother, who is a US citizen born and raised in the area, near Bailey's Crossroads in Northern Virginia yesterday. Chillingly, they claimed she “almost ran them over” until she told them she had video proving that was a lie.
Today is the August 11th Minnesota primary election! Make a plan to vote for our two Twin Cities DSA-endorsed candidates on the ballot today: - @omarfatehmn.com for re-election to Senate District 62 - @christin-with-mpls.bsky.social for Minneapolis School Board At-Large
Voting in today’s primary election for @kobey4governor.bsky.social, @peggyflanagan.bsky.social, and @keithellison.bsky.social… will have my precinct voter number to share later!
Election night results can change for three reasons: (1) More categories of ballots are reported in individual precincts. (2) More precincts are reported. (3) Errors are corrected. In Minnesota, category (1) is nearly non-existent for reasons explained below. But categories (2) and (3) still exist.

Safe Home Saint Paul beat the City of St. Paul. A judge of the Ramsey County District Court has ordered that the petition for a Right to Repair ordinance be placed on the ballot for voters
Fred Melo of the Pioneer Press, @frederickmelo.bsky.social, got the memo and posted it on Twitter. Here's what he posted. My opinion? It's pure hackery. Anyone who relied on this memo got snowed or was looking for permission to kill this version Right to Repair.
Multiple ICE agents in multiple vehicles were spotted tonight at the Quarry. Definitely something to watch for considering polls open in less than 12 hours tomorrow. Plug back into your rapid response networks if you’ve fallen off.

Trump: "Very importantly, vaccinations for hepatitis B, covid-19, and influenza, among others, are no longer recommended for all children"
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is committed to protecting free and democratic elections. Check out the information below before you head to the polls tomorrow.

The U.S. has AGAIN sent people to a foreign country where they get imprisoned. This time, it’s to get around laws barring the deportation of people who face persecution/torture in their home countries. The U.S. gets paper-thin assurances that the below won't happen, which it knows will be ignored.
Immigrants confined in a decommissioned hotel in Equatorial Guinea, after the U.S. deported them there without notice/due process, report worsening, dangerous conditions: "We’re living a nightmare." tucson.com/news/local/s...

🧵 A few thoughts on the geography of #SaintPaul 's shifting homeless encampments. The Fish Hatchery camp that Mayor Her forcibly cleared this week was on some of the most isolated land in the city, over 2 miles from downtown StP, surrounded by RRs, river, highways, & cliffs.
not the most fucked up part of this BUT it's fucked up that israel bombing lebanon is the only reliable indicator we have that the US and iran might reach another deal

In July, on ABC, CBS, and NBC, there were 194 segments on the extreme heat waves rolling across the US. Number that mentioned climate change: 0.
ABC, CBS, and NBC aired nearly 200 segments about three U.S. heat events without mentioning climate change
From late June through July, successive heat waves swept across large portions of the United States, breaking temperature records and placing more than 100 million people at a time under heat alerts. ...

I had no expectations of corporate media, but still have to call out blatant self-censorship under duress, which doesn’t make the capitalists any less pathetic.

This has been very slow to be met, & has been stuck with 24% to the initial goal for ages. We've got to help folks across Minnesota. Share widely. Every contribution helps! 💙🩵
Geovanni is one of the workers who was on a roof in Chanhassen in subzero temps in Dec 25 when ICE came. He was detained and injured that day and needs a second surgery due to those injuries. Can we get this funded for him? www.gofundme.com/f/support-ge...
The @startribune.com needs to learn how to write about trans subjects in news story. The teen in question is deadnamed by their reporter, and his correct pronouns are never used, creating tortured sentences. It's bad writing. cc @stribrooks.bsky.social www.startribune.com/urban-explor...

You don’t fix a dysfunctional executive and city government by subverting democracy.
The St. Paul City Council just voted to refuse to put the Tenant's Right to Repair law on the ballot for voters, claiming it conflicts with state law even though Duluth passed a nearly identical law last year. A press release from the Safe Homes coalition which has pushed for the law:

Haha Appleton your devil’s bargain is tax-exempt now. Wages of concentration camps.
A day after CoreCivic announced it was reopening the long-shuttered private prison it owns in Appleton, Minn., the company said it was selling the facility to the federal government for almost half a billion dollars.
There may well be active duty troops in the Middle East right now who have family members locked in ICE jails. Congress authorized Military Parole-in-Place specifically to avoid this situation. But the Trump admin has shown little care to families caught in this situation.
"President Donald Trump’s administration has detained dozens of parents and spouses of active-duty U.S. troops as it rolls back immigration protections for military families to pursue its mass deportation agenda." https://bit.ly/4br4M4m
I’m here at the Fish Hatchery encampment in St. Paul as the city prepares to sweep the camp. St. Paul cops are stopping cars coming in but there are dozens of people that have gathered here in anticipation of the sweep in order to help camp residents and document what the city does here today.
Sigh, some leak somewhere means no water pressure in my tap until who knows…
Five-alarm fires raging everywhere…
CoreCivic expects Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainees to start arriving at the 1,800 bed Appleton, Minn., facility as early as this fall. with a ramp up to full capacity by mid-2027. The contract kicks in next week. (1) www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...
