The heatwave in Europe is so extreme, it's 25–32°F (14–18°C) above normal. You read that right. France recorded it's hottest day ever. The UK had its hottest ever June day. The ground is exceeding 122°F (50°C). People are dying. Tell me again why we shouldn't talk about climate change???

🚨 Introducing Project Cosmos, the world’s largest database of climate change research. Carbon Brief has mapped the academic literature and evidence that underpins humanity's knowledge of climate change. The Cosmos database includes 1.8 million studies. Explore the database here ⬇️ bit.ly/4eXC4tK

Thrilled that my paper (w/@sarahobolt.bsky.social,@catherinedevries.bsky.social,@simonecremaschi.bsky.social) was accepted at the American Political Science Review! We find that declining public services fuel support for the populist right — and show why the right benefits more than other parties 🧵

We’re in the worst energy crisis since the 70s. Jet fuel prices are spiking. Flights are getting cut. Here’s a modest proposal: Emergency luxury fuel surcharge $1,000/gal for private jets. Buy fuel abroad? Pay by the mile to land. You want to burn through an energy crisis in style, pay for it.🧵

You don’t need more ideas. You need a better question. A thread on clarity, chaos, & what a Nobel Prize winner, a mosquito net & a PhD meltdown taught me about writing (+ thinking) better. 🪨 Here’s my new Respect the Marble post: catherineeunicedevries.substack.com/p/you-dont-n... 🧵
