White / male / cis / Episcopalian / born citizen; about as privileged as they get; lawyer. He/him.

Everyone is mad. There’s a literal genocide going on. Women are being attacked. Trans people are being attacked, Black women are being economically destroyed. Immigrants are being rounded up. But until white people especially work on their desires to dominate and abuse, we won’t get anywhere.

Far as I know, Congress has never before ceded its powers to the executive, nor given the president a free pass to brazen corruption, rampant abuse of power, destruction of public property and undermining... pretty much everything that made the US great. Unmatched, and let's learn from it.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 19h ago

Mike Johnson claims that the current Congress is "probably in the top three or four of all time" and is "almost unmatched in history" 🙃

Now it’s “assimilation/culture” or whatever argument it takes to get to it the bottom line is always “we need this to be overwhelmingly White or else something is terribly, horribly wrong” and now that it’s been exposed for the 8,000,000th time let’s just put this to bed, ok?

This is who they are. This is what they believe in. It's not, "Never punch right", it's that these are the values they want to drag the rest of the nation to. These aren't tolerated extremists. These are what mainstream GOP wish they could be with their whole chest if it didn't cost them votes.

New for @talkingpointsmemo.com: Marshall Rawson, GOP nominee for Florida legislature, marched w/ Nazis in Charlottesville, condoned slavery, & called for execution of gay people. Does GOP even care? Is there a limit to MAGA's "never punch right" ethos? talkingpointsmemo.com?p=1558029&pr...

"It's just sports and it's a red state." "It's just medical care for trans youth." "It's just banning trans people from schools." We are here. Stop rationalizing Dems throwing trans people under the bus. Do not vote for anti trans Dems.

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com · 3d ago

Holy shit. Marcy Kaptur becomes the latest Dem to release an anti-trans ad, and its worse than all the rest combined. "I voted WITH Republicans to keep transgender ideology out of schools, and let me be clear, boys should NOT play in girls sports." This is getting out of control.

This is awful. This could turn the Democrats into UKs labour party - worse than just letting Republicans hold power. What's worse than Nazis is making Naziism bipartisan. Kaptur should be zealously opposed by every decent Democrat. Don't let this become a norm.

transphobia isn’t a moderate position. i wish liberals would grasp that. we are a primary target of modern fascism. if you’re throwing us to the wolves you might as well jus put on the nazi armband and be done with it. you aren’t fighting fascism. you aren’t a resistance fighter.

jenny tightpants@jtp.bsky.social · 5d ago

this shit does not work on me. go try it on the centrists who call trans women "biological men."

Yes All of this Especially that last line It's a stupid, unprincipled, immoral thing to do. If you want to throw trans people under the bus, you're showing that you don't get it, and you're not the one who is going to lead us out of oppression.

yes. we know this strategy doesn’t work. that’s why we’re so angry at @teamtalaricohq.bsky.social for doing it. transphobia gains a democratic candidate nothing. all it achieves is pisses off the base and losing votes. it’s a stupid, unprincipled, amoral thing to do.

Please admire this slop-guide to the U.S. government that my kid received in his ninth grade government class. “Watergsstate Impreachment Imeachment bolity Precedent”

A sort of map of US government, with lots of arrows and words. It’s labelled “SIMPLIFIED CONCEPT MAP: U.S. GOVERNMENT.”

Folks just making stuff up... then acting on it... and getting blessed by the Supreme Court for it. No sense arguing with these jokers. There's no rational argument in their favor - why argue against? Nothing going to work but forcing them from power and confronting reality.

Genuinely an insane paragraph from Sam Alito. “Voter fraud is real and scary and we have to stop it, so the fact that implementing Trump’s mail ballot rule will disenfranchise millions is legally irrelevant.” Brain melted. A right-wing podcaster in a robe. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

As for the equities, the Government has a strong interest
in enforcing the rule, and implementing it will also “en-

detect election fraud. 91 Fed. Reg. 54972. On the other side
of the balance, the plaintiff States invoke the practical ef-

enough to convince me to deny the application.

the truly crazy making part of all of this is that voter fraud EFFECTIVELY DOES NOT EXIST. you have a better chance of finding an actual leprechaun at the end of the rainbow than of finding evidence of voter fraud that influences an election
