watching the candidate forum for the US Senate seat currently held by Tina Smith and it's incredible how Royce White's response to every question is to spout insane conspiracy theories about transgender people and the uniparty. This guy was the GOP's nominee for a Senate seat two years ago!

Took them less than 24 hours to go full on xenophobia and Islamophobia. They are quick to the trigger…

I want the statement "Black Americans are conservative" to absolutely die in a fire. It's a lie from the pits of hell. Black America's record demonstrates that, as a whole, we are the MOST progressive racial/ethnic demographic in the United States and it's not even close.

A gentle observation: Some of the same older Black voters in Detroit who are being shaded for not supporting Abdul El-Sayed in the primary sent Rashida Tlaib to the House. And keep sending her there. 🤯 Yes, her district encompasses all of Dearborn *now,* but not in 2018. All politics is local.

Something I think those of us who grew up in 90s or earlier are going to have to internalize — and will always struggle to remember — is that US voters no longer accept the fiction that politics is a contest between liberal and conservative ideas, rather than faction-based culture war by other means

Detroit will go blue in November. The city always does. The question will be voter turnout and the campaign's ground game. As for the rest of the state, the GOP spigot is going to deluge our airwaves until Election Day.

My elders lived through Jim Crow, migrated North, dealt with racism up here, etc. I've heard "white folks won't vote for him." They said the same about Obama 'til Iowa. Progressives need to be willing to meet our Black elders where they are. We can earn their votes! But... We can't be dismissive.

More cops have been arrested for using flock cameras to stalk women than there are transgender athletes in youth sports.

I want to thank all of the economists and political scientists who “rigorously studied” voter restriction policies and found little to no “causal” effect because Black people unfairly bore the additional time and information costs to vote in spite of these racist restrictions. Job well done, guys…
