running a magazine is very fun and rewarding. it also means I have drastically less time to actually write (still striving to find a balance there) but I just sold a reprint to a cool place and that'll just have to do for now!

I've been pretty offline for a few weeks, but for a delightful reason: I had a baby! 👶 she made us a family of four at the end of June and I'm slowly crawling out of newborn bliss and sleep deprivation 💜

buckle up, it's Sad Boi Spring! this poem came to me very quickly last year as a thought about what grounding feels like when you're up in the clouds, and what happens when that isn't enough 💜 so pleased it found a home with Small Wonders!!

"we are all made of star-stuff", by ash vale, moves from the physical reality of that phrase to the emotional truth that we don't necessarily feel that way, and the separation that can bring.

This. The closet was nearly my casket. We express ourselves with writing, and many of us don't choose to write about queerness; it comes out in the work. To strangle that is to strangle the art, and then what is the fucking point? To lube up bookshelves with frictionless tripe? To hell with that.

"Authors and editors also described self-censoring—some have stopped writing or editing queer books in anticipation of them being challenged." I don't even know how to do this. I censored myself my whole life. I cannot go back in a closet. That will be a violence done to myself.
