Here's the thing. The people who had these massive plantations were not dumb. Thomas Jefferson was not dumb. They modeled themselves after British gentry, complete with elite education for the sons, down to the Southern genteel accent that is a cousin of the English one.

Honestly I really hate how it's just straight up socially acceptable to just casually mock, bully and demonize autistic ppl in basically every single space online that isn't explicitly one of our own spaces. Lots of ppl self label as being safe for us and most are performative at best.
