It really seems like the common factor shared by the people most at risk of catching the reactionary brainrot virus is simply growing up in the 80s, either as a child or a teenager. So it might just, once again, be his fault, like everything else wrong with the world today.

I do think there is much to be criticized about the DSA. However, much of that criticism rings somewhat hollow when the same or even far worse could be said to the current Democratic Party. Attacks on the DSA's FP platform in particular are quite ridiculous if you don't reckon first with that fact.

Musk is, in many ways, a true representative of his contingent: wholly uninterested in the consumption of traditional culture, which he clearly regards as boring, while foaming and frothing at the mouth that it must *remain* traditional, locked away in a museum he won't fund or visit
Ironically it seems like Americans are just as blasé about American deaths than they are about Iranian ones. There have been almost 20 dead US servicemember since the beginning of this war and the reaction of the American public so far seems to be a tired shrug.

I can't expect Americans to care about Iranian soldiers as much as American soldiers, but by any objective measure an Iranian soldier who dies in this war is more a victim than any American.

My main problem with those proposals is, once again, not their morality (or lack thereof) but their purported efficiency. The authors of such drivel always take it as self-evident that their compromises would translate into electoral gains. But would they? Would they really? What proof do they give?

low info voters are constantly being convinced that Republicans have more moderate policies (and Democrats more left wing policies) than they actually do and the mainstream media is a huge accomplice in this effort.

Sasho Todorov@sashotodorov.bsky.social · 3w agoRegardless of where your district is, and who your voters are, your capacity to do things depends on getting to 218 and getting to 218 in modern nationalized politics means not having a party brand tainted by whatever some forever-PhD the DSA scrounged up for a primary is saying online.
My biggest problem with the centrists isn't that they're being too cynical or immoral. I *can* accept the need to make cynical or even immoral choices when the stakes are truly high. My problem is that their arguments are bad and stupid and sometimes don't even make logical sense.
