NZ Unemployment at 5.6%. News media are running lots of story on how to improve your chances of getting a job. My question: when all jobs are filled, and CV and interviewing skills can no longer help, how many people will be out of work (not just those on Job Seeker)?

Socialist and ardent Janeite, not nearly obstinate and headstrong enough!
Unemployment at its highest level for 11 years, did I see? And THAT INCLUDES THE COVID AND LOCKDOWN TIMES. Thanks to the Ardern government that protected jobs and businesses at the time.
This is an excellent Chlöe Swarbrick quote re the Treaty Principles Bill but feels very relevant to current #nzpol events.

There is no such thing as “reasonable force” against a child. Save us from these toxic damaged scared old white men who think their upbringings “never did them any harm”
This policy would directly lead to physical abuse of disabled and neurodivergent children. Tell your friends. I'm absolutely serious.

"So, while it’s great to hear National MPs and even the PM condemn Nash’s misogyny, the record of the past three years shows they stand up for women when it doesn’t cost them anything."
“The Govt has a poor record on supporting the hard work involved in addressing violence against women. On its watch, police have deprioritised responses to family harm. It also presided over the “pause” of ACC’s programme that funded sexual violence prevention initiatives such as RespectEd.” #nzpol

🧵 Power prices, BlueSky, since you ask "what's up?" We have had a housesitter for two months, and our power price was WAY DOWN -- she worked during the day and basically slept here. Now we are back, retirees at home most of the time, and the daily cost is eye-watering.
