NEW WORLD RECORD for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night ZANGETSU All Bosses Console Category! 31:41 -> 31:17 RTA Twitch.tv/bobbeigh

Finished Black Flag Resynced today and I feel it's the best of all the Assassin's Creed games (admittedly I have missed Shadows -- will get it this fall). I'll note that as a first-time AC4 player here, the added chapter felt natural to the game -- I didn't realize it was an addition until after!

I found the original sound source of the piano used for "To Zanarkand" from Final Fantasy X. The hardware version is the KORG Kronos German Grand preset. There's a VST version you can get called SGX-2. Here's the original MIDI data played through the VST (with a little adjustment for velocities).

Short review of Spider-Man: the best Holland has ever been in the role. The MVP of this film is Jon Bernthal (staggeringly excellent as Frank Castle), and a brief, hilarious appearance from Florence Pugh reminds us that she is carrying the post-Endgame wider MCU. 1/2

Would anyone be willing to share a screenshot of a track in Logic, Fruity Loops, or some similar DAW that I could include in the second edition of *Listening to Rap*? I can't for the life of my get in touch with the person from whom I got the image in the first ed.

No stream tonight, friends! Sarah and Dana are in Rochester conferencing (I'm not jealous, I swear :p), and the rest of us are either with family or catching up on work things (or both! AUGUST AHHHHH)

Go help Bobby across the line, friends! He is one of my models I point students toward for how to be a good broadcaster while you're playing, and if you watch GDQ you've almost certainly seen him in action covering Mega Man and Metroidvania platformers.

The feeling of apathy that Imran alludes to here is what I spend my days of university teaching fighting against. My biggest advice: do cool shit that computers can't replicate. Sing for a person you love. Go in with friends on a truckload of Porto's pastries and hand them out in the lobby.

Of a robot taking over and shooting people dead in the street? 0%. Of people ceding all their decisionmaking to computers that don’t do it well and that slowly sucking the soul out of society? Dead certain.

I'm really proud of how we approach cultural history: we curate, collect, interpret and provide access to it for free online. People ask if we'll open a museum and it's like...why? Museums are wonderful and I love them but we have 100x the impact of a museum at less than 5% of the cost.

I've commented here and there, but my biggest thought re: Wilson's review / criticism of Nolan's film is that far too many people have forgotten that criticism involves *critique* and not just an extended, in-depth advertisement. Other critics should aspire to be half as informed and engaging!

It’s nice to see everyone’s textual analysis of The Odyssey It’s almost like the humanities give you entertainment, feelings, pleasure, and fun/interesting stuff to talk about, as well as lenses into both past and current society

I am well aware that $5,000 isn't even a rounding error for a game budget, but I would have assigned this one to a major university course that has 50 students a term for multiple years in a row. What a fun way this would have been to talk about the past meeting the present of game development!

Holy moly. The publishers who passed on funding this (now out-of-production) Myst spinoff missed out on a slam dunk

I don't announce it publicly with regularity, but I was diagnosed with autism as a junior high child (the now out-moded Aspergers' variety) and I received both diagnosis and the treatment/therapy for it because I am a man. Women my age / generation almost univerally were not given the same care.

For decades, ADHD was viewed as a childhood condition that mostly affected boys. Researchers now know ADHD manifests differently in girls, but many still go undiagnosed until adulthood. n.pr/4pCF42m
