I can't overstate the bidet thing, y'all. It doesn't have to be a fancy heated bidet with all the extras - just a 15$ cheapo unit that took fifteen minutes to install works. I'm currently staying in a "fancy" hotel sans bidets, and my ass is griping about not being sufficiently spritzed.

of all the people and entities I used to love who are now fully AI-pilled, this is one of the ones that breaks my heart the most. their ENTIRE REASON FOR EXISTENCE was to democratize human art making and insist that writing a novel was something any of us could do

So, wait, has NaNoWriMo rebranded as "Novel November", paid for by ProWritingAid, which used to be a spell/grammar checker but now is (you guessed it) an "'AI' grammar checker"--in short, yet another way for a griftslop machine to grab human-written text? Do I have that right?

even Picard's tendency toward grumpy buzzkill humorlessness in chaotic situations is the sign of an actor with a really great sense of humor. he's playing the straight man so that Q, or Lwaxana Troi, or a child, or everyone being loud at the pool while he's trying to read can go even bigger

There was something about him that was unabashedly joyful in a way that is hard to explain. He so plainly loved life, loved people and loved telling stories. I keep thinking of that clip of him dancing and singing that alphabet song on the bridge of the Enterprise.

For anyone wondering what Patrick Stewart’s French accent sounds like, allow me to present this clip from L.A. Story… youtu.be/C1IRqqp8vHw?...

#RIP Patrick Stewart of 'Star Trek' Captain and 'X-Men' On 12-4-1997, after getting a @pressclubdc.bsky.social coffee mug, he was asked, "Just from a purely logical point of view, why is it that a Captain whose name is Jean-Luc Picard have a perfect English accent?" Patrick Stewart answer here:

Hey God, if you’re going to take wonderful actors and voice-over artists from us, would you mind throwing a bigoted totalitarian rapist into the mix every once in a while? What is your fucking problem?

any year where sam neill or dolly parton or tim curry or patrick stewart died would be a bitch on wheels but all of them in the space of six months is one for the books (derogatory)

This is a blow, but what a great life/career the man had. I confess I only went to see his one-man Christmas Carol on Broadway because I so enjoyed getting stoned and watching TNG, but it was genuinely great and I returned every year he did it.

Patrick Stewart, ‘Star Trek’ Captain and ‘X-Men’ Superhero, Dies at 86

He’s forever known for playing Jean-Luc Picard and Charles Xavier, whom he “admired for their morality, for their kindness, for their sensitivity, for their compassion.”

"Neologism is a psychiatric syndrome where a person creates completely invented words or phrases that sound logical to them, but mean nothing to others." And that's a bad thing? I thought this is was part of being a science fiction writer!

RIP to Sandy Frank, absolute television genius who's greatest achievement was bringing MIGHTY JACK to English. I mean BATTLE OF THE PLANETS, protecting Earth's entire galaxy from alien invaders from beyond space. Also inspiring one of the earliest American anime fan clubs!

And use a shower chair if it helps make showering easier. You don't have to be "sick enough." You can also get a handheld shower head with an on/off switch so you can control it when you're sitting.
