Doting dad, w/🇨🇦🇺🇸 kiddos. Married amazingly.
Enthusiastic about solutions for climate & pandemic challenges. Pro-ebikes. Pro-democracy. Anti-fascism. Pro-human rights. Anti-genocide. Speaking only for myself.

It is not a great look that some senior Democratic leaders have had time to put out statements on social media about how much they'll miss Lindsey Graham but haven't had time to talk about these latest executions carried out by Trump's gestapo in American streets.

For folks asking why bother commenting because the OMB won't care: comments help build cases for the courts by explicitly laying out harms. That's why it's really important to have your comments be as specific as possible. Also, contact your senators and reps! They actually do care about this.

Monday is the deadline for public comment! The Heritage Foundation has been mobilizing its members to leave comments in favor of the rule change, so every unique comment matters (don’t use a form letter or copy/paste—similar comments are batched and treated as one).

the high-profile people who supported platner ignored the nazi tattoo, so a bunch of women came forward to report sketchy behavior, which they also ignored, until this woman had to come forward and tell her full story. i hope they do some reflecting on how and why they put her in that position

The “vibe shift” proclaimed Nov. 2024 - Jan. 2025 was just some elites—in business, media, law, and some higher ed admins—who kinda liked the fascism and gave themselves permission to accommodate it. That’s all it ever was. A close presidential election is not somehow a binding cultural referendum.

#Berkeley area folks: If you have a Carla Cargo, Bikes At Work, or Surly Bill bike trailer to lend, a friend is hoping to borrow (or rent?) one to help someone move sailboat spars, booms, etc. Could be fun if you're looking for a bike adventure. Photo for ideas.

I call Elon Musk a Nazi because he's an avowed white supremacist who undermines democracies, incites pogroms, targets minorities, intentionally caused the death of >750,000 people (so far) while laughing about it ("feeding USAID into the wood chipper"), and did a Sieg Heil at Trump's inauguration.

somehow achieving a trillion dollar net worth hasn't left our boy feeling any more secure or beloved

Elon Musk tweet from 5 hours ago: "The reason they call me a Nazi is to encourage people to murder me"

The strong collective response of the science community to the proposed OMB rule has demonstrated the broad unity that’s possible when we all work together. We'd do well to apply this same level of activation to the larger assaults on science and democracy. My new post: blog.ucs.org/gretchen-gol...

The Science Community Is Stepping Up. Let’s Go Bigger.

The scientific community is fighting a proposed change to research funding. Let's keep this momentum going to take on more attacks on science.

🧵 Public science in the US has taken some heavy hits over the last year, but the White House OMB is proposing a series of changes that will result in a TKO for science as we know it unless we fight back. Here's what's happening, and why it matters. 1/n

It’s truly astonishing to see how comprehensively the US government is tearing down every part of the system that has made it up until now a world-leading power in science, research, and technological development. The entire world will suffer from this wanton destruction.

White House proposes new rules giving political appointees final approval of research grants These proposed Office of Management and Budget regulations would render the federal research grant review process opaque www.scientificamerican.com/article/whit...

Dear media, You don't have to say "E Jean Carroll accused Trump of defamation and rape." You can say "Trump defamed and raped E Jean Carroll." It's been adjudicated. Thank you

A few hours of sunshine powered our tow vehicle enough to transport 1200 pounds of materials 40 miles (round trip) to a recycling center. 100 pounds of metal, 200 pounds of wood, and 900 pounds of concrete and tile. We hauled more with our compact EV and trailer than 9/10 of the trucks we saw there!

The trailer is full of wood, metal, concrete, and tile, all covered with a tan tarp secured by a mix of straps and elastic netting. I don’t understand how days before the election a leading gubernatorial candidate doesn’t understand the biggest CA infrastructure project. Up until a few weeks ago Becerra barely seemed to grasp the housing crisis, with few ideas on how to address it. Why are so many Democrats supporting him?

Greg Greene (he/him/his)@greene.haus · 2mo ago

“‘I’m going to scrap the current configuration, and I’m going to make sure we finish,’ Becerra said. ‘But we’ve got to do it on budget and on time.’” These … certainly are words. They indicate no knowledge whatsoever of the project, but they're words.

Happening now at Delaney Hall. Protesters are outside the facility demanding the release of Martin Soto, the leader that started a hunger and labor strike to protest inhumane conditions. iCE has rolled in a tank and is pointing their weapons on peaceful protesters that are forming a human chain.

Here at Helsinki, Finland was just a over month ago opened brand new bridge called Kruunuvuorensilta (Crown Mountain Bridge) from downtown area to Kruunuvuorenranta suburban area, where's cyclist and pedestrians and soon trams are allowed but no cars. It's also newest and longest bridge at Finland.

My heart is full seeing the images of Kevin and his family reunited. Our community made this moment possible.   As we celebrate Mother's Day, let’s remember all the mothers still separated from their loved ones by DHS. For all the families that have not been reunited yet, we continue the fight.

I joined NY’s Cutest on the Bergen Bike Bus that they ride to school every Wednesday, rain or shine. We’re adding bike boulevards and more pedestrian space on Bergen and Dean Street, from Court Street to East New York Ave. It was a wonderful kind of day.

I just want to add, since this is breaking containment, that this can't be made right. these people, each one a whole universe, are gone. there can only be justice for the perpetrators; public remorse & restitution; & reform to ensure future aid systems are more just and less prone to imperial whims

Today, we honor and remember Virginia Roberts Giuffre on the one-year anniversary of her passing. Her courage has allowed countless survivors to be seen, heard, and to be believed. Sending love to her family on this difficult day—and to all the survivors out there still on this journey for justice.❤️
