He is phenomenally shifty. No mental gymnastics just absolute confidence for the grift
Jay Bhattacharya somehow both claims to have “cured” the NIH of DEI while simultaneously building a DEI program to favor underfunded universities. And honestly the mental gymnastics boggles the mind. 🤸 open.substack.com/pub/27unihte...
Frances Perkins was the patron saint of American workers and an inspiration for me during my time as labor secretary. She was the guiding light behind the creation of Social Security, the 40-hour workweek, the National Labor Relations Act, and much more.
Today's Prospect Patriot is Frances Perkins. She saw the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory go ablaze in 1911 and her life changed. "The New Deal was born that day," she said. 22 years later she'd be America's first female cabinet member. prospect.org/2026/08/04/a...

A simple but (I think) compelling re-analysis of a paper that Director Bhattacharya frequently cites in his talks to claim that NIH-funded researchers no longer pick up the newest ideas. Dr. Bishop concludes the opposite using the same data. The original conclusion was contrary to my experience.
Further analysis of Packalen & Bhattacharya article, where they claimed #NIH-funded research was slow to pick up on new ideas. I argue that their approach is flawed, and I present an analysis that shows the exact opposite. pubpeer.com/publications...

Remember when NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya said there were no banned words and NIH Program Officers were making them up? Here’s the proof he lied: apnews.com/article/cali... I know, Jay Bhattacharya lying is not news. But it’s still really validating to have the admission.
